my ps3 started by only reading disk sometimes to not at all and i have replaced the laser assembly and that took care of it for a while now its acting different

can u play any psn games ,psn demos or homebrew ?

if it was the logic bored then u wouldn't be able to play anythink at all

yea i can watch videos saved to the hard disk and play download psn games but ive tryed cleaning the laser with no luck it started only playing dvds at the end now it wont play anything... thnkks

if u can play psn games then your logic board is fine , if it was broken then psn games would lead to a black screen .

could be is lazer or leads not connect right .

try rebuilding the assembly again

oh i have lol. its been apart ant together multiple time with no luck ive check the ribbon cable with my multimeter im stumped ive ordered a new logic board and laser assembly. anybody else had this problem. i can take more videos if necessary thankyou.

If you have access to another ps3 with the same type of laser you could try putting the other laser unit onto you logic board and ps3. Sounds like a faulty laser tho

would even a faulty laser flash violate and red. what happens is when i put a br disk it the laser flashes from violate then instantly to red the the cd spins slow and the red lasers goes on off on off.

I have only come across the single laser at the mo, but I have two that i believe to be faulty, both still emit light. One is a lot duller than the other

okay so it could probably be the laser pickups in the sled i guess. just sucks ive replaced the drive in this thing twice and i got anotherone on its way. so i guess aslong as the motor like the cd motor, sled motor are operating then the logic board must be okay?

yea i can still run games that ive bought from the psn . but its weird how it started. first a guy gave me this thing because the laser was dead so i changed the drive and wahla it worked. then a week later the motor went out so i took the motor off the old drive and it worked for bout 2 months. then it started only reading the game some times. i had to eject and retry 20-30 times and when it worked it would work for a while and the games never crashed and i had no problems until i shut the ps3 off. then it happened a few more times and then it started only playing dvd video disks and now it wont play anything.
