hey at lease they are telling us this first before we buy the console unlike before when they removed features after purchase, this rumor about bc will be true since they are apparently moving to amd and wont want to fork out more for last gen hardware for its games.

hopefuly they will use bluray to load games instead of a ssd, hdd like pc, give us a bottleneck in gameplay when we play new vegas 2 or next gen Bethesda games.

PS Vita was a poor excuse to lure buyers because microsoft on portables sucks big time. (Everybody seems to forget zune).

It's the era of portables and direct2drive content, less space in your room more virtual garbage on the net.
Who need the ****ing retail boxes with all concept art or limited editions that you own proudly because you love certain franchise?.

That's the idea: eradicate by all means *real world piracy* (when they really need piracy to keep filling their pockets) and start a war on a digital world. Cool concept tough (Gaikai, etc) let's see what happens on 2013.

i dont see the PS4 being a dramatic leap in graffics and computing power over the ps3, as was from ps2 to ps3. i dont see the next gen xbox either. i hate that in this current gen, its been down to 360 as the base platform and ports for the ps3. i see the same thing with xbox720 and orbis. the vita+ps3 is sonys anwser to wiiu and the psmove has always been a joke/gimmic wannabe mii too. the future of gameing is pretty bleak IMO and the only thing i even remotely look forward to is 1 game, MGS ground zeros. GTAV looks pretty good too but really i think the days of buttons and controllers, FPS, RPG, racing, platformers, ect is all just the same rehashed **** we have seen and played over and over before. i want to see interactive hologram gaming within the next 10 years

I think is very naive to expect PS4 to be compatible with PS3 software. It would be great but will not happen when PS4 launches.

Sony knows they need to keep production costs down and the system cheap to compete with MS and Nintendo. And one way to cut costs, is not including any hardware required for compatibility with PS3. Sure they could in theory emulate PS3 100% in software, but that's not realistic. Remember the first PS3's included hardware for PS2 software compatibility. The US launch model had both PS2 GPU and CPU, while the European model only had the PS2 GPU while the CPU was software emulated. About 1 year later Sony cut the PS2 hardware completely from PS3 to save money on production and PS3 lost it's PS2 compatibility. Existing models continued to work of course, and PS1 still worked sin that was 100% software emulated anyway. Only 4 years later, Sony was finally ready with a PS2 100% software emulator which is only compatible with a select few titles, not the huge library of PS2 games.

But I think PS4 will be compatible with PS1 and more PS2 games since there is a software emulator now which can be ported and improved.

Reg. Gaikai, I think Sony are planning a Netflix-like service (maybe a part of PS+) which allows consumers to play a huge library of old PS1/2/3 titles on the service via PS4 and other devices. I don't think it's only for PS4.

And finally, no one is "forcing" anyone to buy PS3 games again. If you have PS3 game discs in your collection, they are still playable in the PS3 console you surely must own since you have the game. Stop whining.

If the rumor is true about reused games not working and games being tied to your PSN account f*ck ps4 I will then probably wait until the wii U gets homebrew :D at least they wont have a ***** fit like $ony or wait until vita gets a hack :D until then the dreamcast will provide the best gaming ever along with the N64 and there is already enough ps3 games to keep it alive :-) hopefully sony will realize that there destroying the playstation name if only they could go back to there roots with PS2 the best single player games ever made instead of trying to compete with this online nonsense not every one wants to play online some people like a rich and well designed with brilliant story line single player instead of online.

Never heard the word 4 being "shi" in Japanese when I studied it, I know 4 is the word Yon in Japanese.

Also, the word Playstation 3 for example is generally written as Katakana and uses the romanic letter 3 and not the Japanese Kanji character. It is pronounced in romaji as Pureisutēshon Surī or looks like this in Katakana プレイステーション3

It would make sense that the word would sound like the English word 4 going on previous generations.

Maybe Sony just want to change the name because 20 years of the same thing is bad in there eyes. Remember Sega (who they successfully killed) never called a console the same between generations and even Nintendo don't until recently so this is nothing new.
