Question about Parts.
So last night while downgrading my ps3, my heatsink clamp screw became lodged in the heatsink and as a result the screw and the heatsink clamp broke off. A part of the screw is still lodged in the heatsink. When I attempt to turn on my PS3 without that clamp, my PS3 shuts down instantly and beeps 3 times. From what I have read, I am assuming that it has to do with the heatsink not making proper contact. Since, I have ordered a new heatsink, clamps and thermal paste.
My question is whether or not a heatsink from a PS3 CECH-2001A will work in a CHECH-2101A. That is what I ordered because I couldn't for the life of me find a replacement heatsink for CHECH-2101A. Also if anyone has a temporary work around please let me know. Thanks! :D |

Even confirmation that that is likely the problem would be appreciated. Thanks again!

Okay so I got the parts unfortunately the Heatsinks are not the same. Instead of getting another I opted to drill out the broken screw and used a larger screw to hold down the heat sink & added new thermal paste.
Initially I was getting RLOD but with some luck have been able to get the system to boot. But now I have a new problem: When turning on the console, I get a green light and while the system is running, I get no video and no audio. In order to power down the console I have to hold down the power button or unplug it as simply pressing the power button does not work. Additionally, after a few moments the system fan will gain speed and the console will shut off on its own after about 3 minutes or so. Please help me Thanks! :D |

Another update. Added more thermal paste and tried the penny fix and viola I got audio and video.
Next problem that needs solving: Red Screen of Death. Tried the "RSOD Fix Factory Service Mode tool" which completed successfully. Upon reboot it asked me to reinstall firmware. Attempted to install Rogero CEX-3.55 CFW V3.7 which again returned me to the Red Screen of Death. Please Help Again! Last edited by Mynameztwitch; 11-17-2012 at 12:40 AM. |

Well from what I've read it helps to fix the problem with the RSX. It just seems like the problems are snowballing but I feel like I have to be close now that it's at least running.
Yeah I guess this must not be all that common of a problem since no one has responded at all. :/ |
