Eboot fw version checker
Hi guys. New to the forum.
I have 320gb PS3 that was running 3.55 CFW until last week, when I heard about the new CFWs. So I decided to upgrade. Everything seemed fine, played FIFA 12, Portal 2. I was happy. As I have many backed up games I only now started checking the status of my other games. First tested Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition. It kicked me back to XMB with no errors. Researched a little, not a definitive answer. Then tried Assassins Creed II and Revelations. Kicked back to XMB. I started getting worried and started a deep research. Found out that might be because of a eboot fix for 3.55. Now it comes my problem. With the amount of games I have, it will be kinda time consuming to check, and remember, if that game was running due an eboot fix. Could maybe easily check the firmware version needed for those games and if above 3.55 then its a fixed one but still, is there any tool to check what eboot version is installed? If I will have to reinstall the original eboots to these, at least I wanted an easier way to pinpoint those who might be affected. And, if possible, does anybody else has any other idea on what is causing the games to kick back, other than the eboot issue? I am currently trying to rebuild database thru recovery menu, but this is the closest guess I could take. Thanks a lot |

99.9% of these games have updates. Since you're on a newer fw now, just update when the game(s) ask for it. Other than that, if the game don't run, chase down the original eboot.. (i always rename mine to avoid this mess..)

Asure thank you for the reply!
Actually I kept reading other posts and found this as way through as well. And tested with AC series and Battlefield 3. All them worked! I am still a bit concerned updating games tho, since for this matter I always took as reference the PS3 Backup Compatibility List (http://www.pshomebrew.net/wiki/PS3_B...atibility_List) and some entries weren't updated and I am not sure if all updates will work. Are you saying that since I am in a new CFW all game updates (until 4.30) should work now? Thanks |

Ok problems.
So I updated most of my games, and I was thinking this would solve it. While downloading some content for the ps3 I thought about play some Resident Evil 5, that I had fixed with an update. And I stumbled in the same problem again... I load the game, that a couple hours ago I updated and tested and seemed to be working at last, and it kicks me back to xmb... Deleted game data, updated again... an nothing this time. Looking at the forums I realized that when I updated to CFW 4.30 without updating to Rogero 3.55 v3.7 first... and I am thinking this might be the problem. What do you guys think? Downgrading right now. Hopefully I won't get stuck in any step. |

I highly doubt NOT going to rogero v3.7 first is the issue here.

Well, I finished the whole process, updated to CFW 4.30 again and... so far all my games are working! Im still maybe half way updating all games, but so far I just got stuck with one. This one is Driver San Francisco. PSN. I read about resigning but... I can't really find a tutorial about it... Never did it before. If someone can point a how to on resigning eboots and sfw and whatever else needed, it would be very appreciated. Thanks |

FTP the eboot over to your pc, or use usb stick and copy it through mmOS, resign it with TAER 1.51, and copy it back over. Done.

Will try that when I get home and will post an update laterI read about other files that may also need to be resigned. Do you also know the procedures for those? (I believe I am talking about self and sprx files) Last edited by diogofmaciel; 11-21-2012 at 01:42 AM. |

DEFAULTDNB thanks a lot for that. I FTP'd the files and did the procedure mentioned with TAER, FTP'd the files back and got error 80029530.
So I remembered this game came as pkgs to install from the XMB, so is possible that it was a modified EBOOT for 3.55, which I assumed it wouldnt help much to sign a 3.55 modified eboot. So I used PS3 Game Updates to pull an update for this game. If I launch it after the update it gives me the "Renew License" error from PSN. So I FTP'd the new eboot to the pc and ran TAER, but I get a message with something like "EBOOT cannot be decrypted"... Does that mean I am out of luck? Thanks |
