Rebug 4.21 Freezing / HDD Spin down?

Recently downgraded and installed Rebug 4.21. I'm using the E3 Flasher with the disk in an external enclosure connected to the E3 board with a SATA cable. Now, if I leave the system on the XMB long enough, it will eventually freeze and stop responding to any actions, the xmb animation stops as well.

On another occasion, I was playing a racing game off my other external hdd, then when the race ended it froze on the "saving data" screen.

Is it possible that the hard drive in the enclosure is spinning down and entering some kind of low power mode? If that's the case, are there any solutions to avoid something like that from happening?

I really like my setup and I've worked really hard over the past few days to make it look nice with the e3 flasher on it, I'd hate to have to remove it and put the ps3 hdd back in the slot.

Thanks

If anyone has the same problem as me, it WAS the external case. I removed the E3 flasher card and put the hdd back in, everything works fine now. I wonder how I can search for an enclosure that doesn't have the low power feature...
