Breaking News! I can play PSN games now! Drive still won't suck in discs for some reason but the fact its plays any games means I'm heading in the right direction. Thanks for all the help guys this was my.first ps3 ever (explains noobness) and thought I would never get it working. And even though I can only at the moment play games like Castlevania:SOTN (which rocks) I feel really good right now.
************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* Also its 12 flashes every time, but I did mess with my.drive so Its prob my own damn fault. And when I try putting a disc in the blue light doesn't go off like it should. I'm thinking I might have put the drive in the in use position, I'll work on it tomorrow. Would the drive bring in the in use position make sense of the blue light not going off when I attempt to put a disc in? Last edited by greatcrusader; 12-13-2012 at 08:48 PM. |

look first on youtube for bluray drive alignement video's, and if you still have issues then come back. ![]() there could be another reason why it won't suck in discs but resetting the drive is where you need to start first. |

Pfft, just when I thought I was on the right that I update my ps3 and nothing works again. Even worse than last time as it black screen when launching even the PS store now. And considering I used to be able to do that without a logic board, that tells me now something else is acting up.
Guess that's what I get for getting too excited lol. Ugh I don't understand it, was able to start up SOTN perfectly a few times and then a update messes it up. When I launch the PS store the logo pops up on a black background then the logo fadds and the clock is spinning in the top right corner , then it just disappears and stays at thr black screen. Weird thing is is that if I go over to the game tab and highlight PS store it shows me new releases from the store, so its not that its not connecting with the store, it just freezes from the transition from the XMB to the store. i told you the blue led should be off when there's no disc inside. if the blue led flashes when you startup the ps3, and nothing is inside then you have a problem. try to hold the eject button for longer then 6 sec. to see if the drive wants to eject. (motor spinning) |

I just figured my new ribbon got unhooked but when I went to the PS store (which I used to be able to browse even with my drive and logic board gone) it had a black screen aswell. I did what you recommended and took drive off to see if that would somehow fix it but no dice .Now I'm not blamming Sony, but I think the update had messed up (I remember it took about an hour to get to 70% and no longer than 5min later I checked on it again and it was on the XMB, maybe an error happened during those 5min to make it finish so quick). I also heard the new update redesigned the PS store so maybe it now requires the logic board and it actually was just not in right? |
