So I had to reformat my harddrive, then went to 3.55, rogero 4.3 v2, then rogero 4.3 v2.03 via xmb. Just installed the multiman pkg and upon launching noticed that I have 206 gigs available out of 930 total. Went through each folder on my PS3 and this missing data is unaccounted for completely. Is there any way that I recover this missing 700 gigs, and has anyone else had this problem?

Did you do a quick format or full format? If not, try the other.

If your drive capacity is decreasing each time you format it. Try using EaseUs Partition, as it names states it easy to use, all have you to do with this is delete then restore your partition and reformat it using this application. Your available maximum capacity should be restored.

So I've tried removing the harddrive, did a full reformat to FAT32 with file allocation 32k using MiniTool Partition Wizard, popped it back into the PS3, and get a blinking yellow light. I also have another internal hdd I pop in that is 320 gigs, place it inside, PS3 boots up and works just fine. So this isn't a problem with my PS3 hardware. Any more ideas? Should I use a different file allocation? Would another reformatting program really help? Any suggestions would be appreciated

Clearly you have a problem with your hard drive. I would run a full scandisk on it (surface scan) and see what turns up. Likely it's screwed and had it's day and destined for the bin. The capacity was likely reduced for a reason - massive number of bad sectors comes to mind.

By using a program to restore full capacity you are only asking for trouble. Run a proper surface scanner on it (it will take couple of hours on a drive 1TB+) but it will tell you if there's a really a problem with it, which there almost definitely is.

If you'r an evil person and don't mind going to hell pass it on to someone else and restore the capacity before doing so. If you don't want to go to hell then don't do that.

try alow level format, that may work

Delete all partitions on HDD, put it in PS3 and go to recovery menu and reinstall CFW and restore default settings.

How do I perform a low level format? I installed EaseUS Partition, deleted the existing partition, popped it back into the PS3, and still back to yellow lights. I was able to copy files onto the harddrive and run them when it was FAT32 and in my desktop though.

A low level format is when the hard drive is zeroed at the surface level instead of just set as zero on the file system.

You can do that in windows by unticking "quick format".

You really should listen to my advice and run a proper surface disk scan before doing anything else.
