new guy: which console to buy
Hey all, buying my 1st ps3. I would appreciate suggestions about which to buy.
I was looking at the 500gb Assassins Creed bundle, but im not thrilled about the new design( mostly the sliding tray) from what i gather there is no real difference between the slim and ultra slim pertaining to performance. I can get either a refurb or used slim 2k series which could possibly be hackable. Since i like to hack/mod everything, this would be great as i find loading discs to be tedious :D I do like the idea of having a new system with 500gb storage tho... So whadya think, go with a new bigger, but cheaper build ultra slim, or a used slim? Any helpful feedback is welcomed Thanks -Z

I would by a hackable ps3 then install a 1tb hdd.

Thx for the input. Im kinda leaning that way, but theres no gaurantee the slims available will be hackable. In any case theyre most likely running OFW 4.xx, which means hardware downgrade if my research is accurate.

Go older, poss 2nd hand. Its the time of year where people will sort out stuff to get shut so they can buy Christmas presents. Cash converters of a place like that would be good.

thanks to all who posted.
in the end i decided to get a new CECH-3001A Slim. really wanted the Assassins Creed bundle, but the poor quality of the ultra-slim bothered me. All the older used Slims were un-hackable and in pretty rough shape. even tho the 3k series may never be hacked, im happy with the choice. I appreciate your help in making this decision... next it's time to swap out the HD for a larger one
