Reading your replies, you obviously disagree with me on your Military action but seeing as you haven't objected to my other points you agree with them? Your gun laws are ridiculous. Your health insurance system is a scam. etc.etc.
Again, when exactly was the region stable? Was that in the 80's when Saddam killed 500,000 Shiite Muslims? Or was it 6,000 years ago when the first ever warrior king, Sargon the Great, started destroy and conquer warfare. The US caused instability in the region? Lol...that's hilarious. You do know Britain was the largest supporter of statehood for Israel don't you? You don't know to this day the British empire is the largest the world has ever seen? You obviously have no idea how their release of power from a lot of those controlled countries has caused more instability than anything else. Yes, we already know gas prices went up. You don't think the Saudi princes use any of that extra gas money to pay for all those yachts do you? You do also know that a large part of that increase in YOUR country goes to pay taxes to YOUR government don't you? Yes, that's right. Your country charges an inflated gas tax just like the rest of the worlds. And yes, in the United states federal minimum wage has almost doubled in the last 15 years. Sounds like you're the one who needs to wake up.

Agree or disagree, they're our gun laws. Not yours. I'm not sure what other points you have made. As far as I'm concerned you've only made the point that you despise everything about the US and we're what's wrong with the world. So tell me, if the US isn't a great or the greatest country, who is?

In the last 48 hours there have been two mass killings in Syria. One that killed 100 and one that killed over 300. Somehow the 2 people killed in the US in this story have eclipsed those.

Yep and the US recently passed a bill that would GUARUNTEE Israel with over 4 BILLION of US tax dollars every year for EVER!

They used that money to build Missile Defense nets and effectively amputate Palestine from the world. Good Job USA.

Yeah, I know Greg. That was kinda my point. Just like this whole thread and about 20 other threads. It started off with you making a good point connecting this to mental health to being another bashing America thread. Yes it's sad that these firefighters died doing their jobs and trying to protect others but it's even sadder that this story has been turned into another chance to bash America instead of focusing on the more important issues that exist here in America and around the world. Don't get me wrong. We know we have problems but I'm smart enough to realize it's a lot worse in other places. I can walk around here in relative safety. Most people across most of America can. Yet a handful of incidents like this happens and we become the scourge of the earth. It's not America that puts itself on a pedestal. It's the media and everybody else who would rather focus on us. 400 Syrians die and two firefighters and people can't help but to get on this thread and talk about health care in America. Crazy.

That's was not my intention, nor my purpose of posting it.
I am all for stricter weapon laws, but i am also all for human rights, the point i as trying to make was, that guns aren't the major issues, as there are many normal people with guns, but rather it was mental health that is the issue, mentally ill people get hold of guns and they do bad stuff.

So either stricter gun control is needed or better mental health institutions

Its not the American people that put America on a pedestal, its government does though.

Is easier to suggest better health care for America, than suggest anything for Syria.

Being diagnosed with mental illness, I can tell you that not every1 who commits a crime necessarily has mental illness and not every1 who is "mentally ill" commits a crime... If you look @ most statistics in the U.S. (cant speak for other countries) you will see that the mentally ill are often the victims rather than perpertrators of violent crimes. http://mentalillnesspolicy.org/conse...tatistics.html Yet theyre seems to be a campaign to limit what non-criminally involved mentally ill patients can do in the U.S. I agree that if you have a *VIOLENT* criminal background you should not have access to guns but if your mentally ill and have no criminal record why shouldn't we be allowed access to protect ourselves? Its sad that we can't come to a comprehensive solution to reduce violence but both sides of the political spectrum in the U.S. either stigmatizes Guns/ or the mentally ill.
