for 4gb+ files you could just ftp copy the files from your pc to your ps3 using ethernet cable, alot faster than using external hd/usb stick

So if a PS3 game is 8gb, it does not mean that you need to split anything. If there is no file larger than 4gb in it, you don't.

You can check this compatibility list, to see what games have a file that needs to be split.
For games that contain files larger than 4gb use PS3Splitter to split the file for you.
yup i think that solved my problem, now i understand this a little, and thanks for the compatibility list thats really helpfull ^.^

u mean a FTP?

There are several ftp programs out there for the ps3.

Download from here the blackb0x ftp 4.2+ cfw version http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=44777

The install cutftp on your pc and configure it with the IP and Port from PS3, to get this info simply open Blackb0x ftp on your ps3 and ip will be shown.

mM has a very well working build-in ftp service
just start mM and connect to its IP (check the IP in system-information)
you may have to change some FTP-settings... you dont need any portforwarding but you can also transfer while the ps3 is directly connected to the PC
thats ALOT faster(as much as the HDD can copy per second)

i recommand FileZilla as FTP-client

happy new year and have fun with your new PS3
