I read quite a few threads where unfortunate PS3 owners have inadvertently bricked their PS3's through bad use of flashers in an attempt to downgrade.

So, I was wondering IF there IS a way to recover a 'blank' PS3.

I assume here that the basic firmware being run is generic (at what ever version).

Then *something* is added I think to the firmware that is unique to each PS3. e.g. a serial number / optical drive I.D.

So, the purpose of this thread is to discuss exactly WHAT is unique to each PS3's firmware. Anyone got any input on this please? I need educating! or telling to shut up being an idiot at the very least.

It's a damn good thread to start Andy and alot of questions will be answered over at ps3devwikki, but it will still be good for members here at hax to have this thread as a refference point and start exploring all the options to unbricking consoles.
