Ok, so I've been reading about all of these new CFW's that use 4.30 and am confused to all hell.

So here's my list of questions

1. Is is safe (at least as much as 3.55 CFW)
2. What are the benefits
3. Are there any major/minor differences
4. does it do all the same things (game backups from HDD, etc.)
5. Is there any reason NOT to update to it
6. What is this Dex/Cex stuff I keep seeing?

I know this has probably been asked dozens of times but please, bear with it. I wasn't able to pay much attention due to school until now so I appreciate the help.

I did and have been searching and reading. Now I'm more confused and am asking. I understand that it has been asked before, i just can't find it. I'm sorry if this upsets you but I seriously just want to understand what I'm probably going to be doing to my PS3.

It is not hard to search your questions, and do some reading.

Did you even read this sticky thread, that is at the top of the section you posted in?

1.Its 4.xx
2.Nothing other then PSN, Better PS2/PSP Emulation, New Internet API, Updated Keys for movies/Games.
3.Yes
4.Not really, Other then OtherOS and Cobra
5.Dex is Dev Firmware, Cex is Retail, Sex is Shop/Kiosk

@player kp Yes, but it doesn't answer about the 4.xx firmwares, only about 3.55.

@tjhooker thanks for the answers, by otherOS and Cobra I'm assuming you mean that if I update I'll loose Cobra PS2 and otherOS (don't really use either) correct?
