I can confidently say yes, but to be on the safe side I would check your stock firmware with minver check. If you google minver check for ps3 you will find all you need to know.

Ok but follow a guide here at hax not a vid tutorial. There is a good guide here http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=39766 Once you make a successfull dump be sure to get it verified, before you flash it.
