Need BOPS2/PS3 Hacking help/advice (no, nothing like infinite ammo/high rank)
Hey PS3Hax Forum,
I'm not a hardcore BOPs2 fan (although my 12 year old brother is), but I am pretty fond of the Zombies gameplay mode. Now as most people know there is a story/easter egg that players need to complete in order to find out how everyone became a zombie. There is a new game mechanic as well,"buildables", which allow players to build new items to help them. Now I know there is an item players can build called the Nav Card reader, and there is an item called the "Nav Card", which CAN'T be used by the reader. I want to find out exactly what this Nav Card reader is capable of by reading the assembly code. I used to hack N64 games to find hidden content (not intended for end-users/players) and I wish to do the same with my PS3, although before I begin, what's the current state of hidden content found in this game? What tools should I be using for reading/ripping/editing PS3 rom files? I know a traditional hex editor and disassembler will be handy but I'm aware of the PS3's different architecture so if someone could point me to a disassembler appropriate for PS3 binaries that'd be great. Second thing, any tips/tricks on editing save files? From what I can see it's just blind editing and hoping something changes...A methodology I would use for this is taking one save file, store it on my machine, go back to my game, fire a bullet/move/do an action, save, store the new save file, and compare the two. If there are any other methodologies, please let me know! Any other tips and advice would be appreciated! Thanks guys! |
