good thing i'm british if letting your teenage daughter do what she wants and talk to who she wants when she wants un supervised on the internet is common practice in america

well here in the uk we have a "water shed" time
anything broad cast on tv radio up to 9pm has to be child friendly

after 9pm sex violence graphic storylines can be broadcast.

this way it is up to the pairents what can / cannot be watched by there child.

ie feel you child shouldnt watch a type of programe then the pairent is at home and able to change the channel
or give the child an early bed time (pre-9pm)

there is a simular system in sky boxes and yes the ps3 where the pairent can create a code asd set up an age limit on content played.
if the pairent feels there child can see / play a given program / game then they just enter the code to unlock it.

this is about protecting your child

everybody protects someone from something

ie your out with your girlfriend / boyfriend on a night out
another girl / guy comes over and starts to make moves on your partner.
now your not going to just watch this happen are you.

no your either going to start on the 3rd person or move both yourself and your partner somewhere else

(this is you protecting someone by using what YOU feel in the nessesery steps. not what your partner may feel is the right step.)

There are multiple "safe guards" for child friendly viewing.
One of the popular ones is the V-chip which allows setting which Tv ratings are allowed without a password.
Aside from that cable and/or sat. is a pay service one that should not force those without children to watch filtered/edited films or Tv shows.
Local over the air broadcast should be filtered, but pay service should not. When it comes down to it, it is up to the parents to provide filtering.
I will not knock anyone for filtering Tv for their younguns, as it is propaganda and filled with adverts. In fact I congradulate you for not just blindly allowing 'other influence' on your children.

The USA is a neat place. Its the only place that a kid is born with their brain in their ass and not their head. Why do i say that?? In the USA if you spank your kid you can go to jail for child abuse cause it warps their brains. In the USA if you ground your kid its seen as child abuse cause taking things away from them will mess them up for life. To punish your kids in the USA you have to tell them nothing. Let then do what they want and give them reward when they do wrong or it will mess them up and its child abuse ( I still think its cause their brain is in their ass but what do i know). Ok I may have stretched it alittle but anyone 30 or over has seen how its going this way. When i was a kid and you showed your tail in public it was looked down on the parent for not busting their kids tail. Now When a kid shows their tail in public it is looked down on the parent for not buying them candy to shut them up.
