Xmb blue squares
So I got a 120gb slim, model is CECH-2001A, used. It appears to have light use, warranty sticker was still intact.
While on the xmb, I get some weird looking blue lines that make squares in the upper half of the screen. They r not too big, and kinda flicker. The weird thing is that they r not there when playing blu-rays or games. If I pause a movie, I will get some horizontal blue lines, but then when I play the movie they go away. Games look fine. I tried doing a full restore on it, and reloaded the firmware. I also did open it up and replace the thermal compound with mx4, and cleaned out the dust. I have also tried hdmi, component, and composite cables on 2 tvs. I also replaced the hard drive, everything stayed the same. With the composite cable, the squares are bigger, since the lower resolution. Any ideas? I thought gpu reflow would be needed, but games and blu-rays look great, so I am confused. |

Sounds like GPU artifacts, or maybe HDMI/multi AV out are dodgy? IDK

I did a reflow on the gpu, everything is the same.
I don't have the tooling for a reball. I still think its weird that it looks fine in movies and games. It's almost like the xmb is just messed up, but I reinstalled the FW. |
