No really though what is stopping everybody in the country from smoking one or ten blunts a day when weed is legalized? nothing and then what will happen when they need their short-term memory for something serious? They will be too high to care.

If they weren't doing it pre-legalization they probably wouldn't be doing it post. I'm sure that most(not all) people that don't smoke weed do so(or should that be don't do so?) because they choose not to, not because of the law. So legalization wouldn't have that big an impact as you're implying. And in reference to "sidestepping with comic relief". Well I actually thought you were taking the piss, so to step back in... Do you seriously believe that doctors, scientists would be able turn up to work high just because Canibus became legalized? Alcohol is legal and I don't think the medical profession takes too kindly to a surgeon turning up let alone performing surgery while under the influence. Heck I dont know any job that allows that. Usually when you sign your contract to start work you will find in that contract a set of rules. In that set of rules is usually something referring to "not working while under the influence of alcohol or drugs". A simple enough clause that everyone should understand. It wont be as bad as you think though, it would generate alot of revenue and also ease the tax payers pocket considering the strain would be lessened on the judicial system. PS Sorry for the off topic guys Last edited by Rautz; 01-09-2013 at 03:34 AM. |

I know what
@Annelies
was trying to say he just said it from an odd angle.
I for one wouldnt want to see weed be legalised even though I used to smoke it. The thing is...it would. Big time. There are more people that abide by the law than there are people that dont and if weed gets legalised those people would feel more comfortable to try it out. You are spot on with the alcohol story though. It would just be treated the same as alcohol as far as everybody getting high while on important duties is concerned. I drink beer. I love it. I know it contains alcohol and I know its not the best thing for my health. I have accepted it because it is the truth. What I dont understand is people who take a puff and think theres nothing wrong with it. By all means smoke. You are an individual with personal choice and no one can take that away from you. Hell I used to smoke every day at one stage . But dont be so naive as to think that "there is nothing wrong with weed". People who say such things are just trying to find inner justification for their bad habits. If you are going to smoke be proud of your actions by accepting the truth of the drug you are taking into your body . You'll either be happier, or realise you dont want to do the drug anymore like me. But in both cases wont be lying to yourself anymore"Cannabinoid receptors are activated by a neurotransmitter called anandamide. Anandamide belongs to a group of chemicals called cannabinoids. THC is also a cannabinoid chemical. THC mimics the actions of anandamide, meaning that THC binds with cannabinoid receptors and activates neurons, which causes adverse effects on the mind and body In your brain, there are groups of cannabinoid receptors concentrated in several different places. These cannabinoid receptors have an effect on several mental and physical activities, including: -Short-term memory -Coordination -Learning -Problem solving " Source http://science.howstuffworks.com/marijuana3.htm Anyways who cares about legalization. If Bieber is doing it every kiddie fan in the world will be in no time

What if The entire United States of America legalized the consumption of alcohol, which has harmful effects, and much more dangerous and more addictive than weed? Well, alcoholic beverages are not illegal, and the Russians have not launched the missiles yet. So, I will change my question to "What happened at the time when alcoholic beverages were illegal, between 1919 and 1933?" Tafficking and organized crime. So in practice, the effects of legalizing weed on society would be less dangerous than alcohol legalization and consumption.

maybe world leaders NEED to get a smoke on!!
maybe then they would stop with this war bull**** every time the fuel tanks get low and concentrate on peace a little. how many violent warmongering / torturing / invading hippies did you hear about in the 60's? all i heard about was free love.... and legal or not, smokers gonna smoke and many scientists/members of government/teachers/doctors do in fact smoke weed its one of the most natural highs and is statistically less harmful than a cheeseburger
