I have a jailbreak ps3 with 3.55 firmware (kmeaw). the backup games work fine through mm but the game disk icon in mm flashes and the game wont load. when in the xmb and i put in a blu ray game or movie it does not load so i tried a dvd and cd and these were the same the load icon (top right corner) just turns. I have cleaned the blu ray laser but it is still the same, do you think its the laser gone faulty or the cfw corrupt.in the xmb system info it just says software version 3.55.Please help.

Definitely sounds like faulty laser.

You could replace the laser to watch bluray or DVD movies (or play CD's) or you could always switch to REBUG REX for CEX/DEX and very little need for a bd drive to play games.

Thanks for the reply i thought it could be the laser i just hope its not the controll board on the blu ray player. I just thought it strange not to read any kind of disks at all, if the laser goes down it sometimes will still read dvds. Will order a new laser and hope that fixes it.

Do you mean logic board? If homebrew still works then its not the logic board

this is not 100% true , the parts on the logic board that control the mechanics and laser have nothing to do with the part that communicates with the mainboard if it's a valid (married) board....

but if the drive inserts and ejects fine, then i guess it's just the laser.

Thanks again for the replys. I ment the board that is at the bottom of the player you have to take this off to get at the laser mountings.the disks go in and out fine so i think its the laser. I was just worried that if there was a software controller it had become corrupt so replacing the laser would have no effect.
