Put Minimus AVR in.
Mains on.
Press power, then eject quickly.
Blue LED on for 3 secs
Auto power-off.
Put firmware in USB.
Power on - firmware gets detected & installed.
etc
T.V. BLANK.

Now it's different.
TV is now NOT blank but states Factory Service Mode in a red banner.
Blue LED on Minimus STAYS ON.

OK I thought... navigate XMB to 'System Update' & try to install ReMarry 3.55 from USB only to get "No compatible files found".

errrr WTF?
Q1) I guess the remarry files should NOT be in root of USB but in \PS3\UPDATE\ folder?
Q2) PS3 now stuck in FSM, how do I get it out of FSM?

No, NOT 'simple' btw. Not at all.

Andy
A1: Remmary files should be in the Root of PS3

A2: Use the second Self (Lv2diag.self Size 202 KB) to get out of FSM

Ah, so once in FSM, turn PS3 off, put USB with remarry files on in, power back on.
Gets installed etc, auto powers off.
Put 'second' out-of-FSM self file on USB, power back on.
PS3 then powers itself off.
Turn on, done, installed & out of FSM.

Cool.

OK. Did it .Thank f for that!
Remarry went in.
Out of FSM. OK

Fired up PS3 and ran QA_Toggle which beep-beeped now and back to XMB.

After selecting Network Settings and pressing all those buttons on the joypad I see the 3 extra options edy viewer, Debug Settings and Install Package files.

THANK YOU everyone!

Sorry to pi$$ you all about.

Question if I may:

1) Does anyone know WHY BlueRay movies cannot be played on PS3 that have had to have remarried BD's or is there way around this.
2) ...Or is it either / or: Either play games OR play BlueRay movies?

Mate has a pile of knackered PS3's and is wondering if one of them can be made into a DVD player / Media center.

I thought bluray playback was still there

6. After you run the initial remarry process, do not take it out of factory service mode.

7. Put a BD movie disc in and run it on the PS3. (This restores your DRL files!)

8. Then you can take it out of factory service mode.

Yep. Did that. Used the movie Inception.
Now just comes up with an error code when I try to play it.
Reluctant to redo this in case I f-it. Mind you, during this whole process, wouldn't be the first time I've had to do certain steps twice..

Ah sod it, he who dares, wins. Or Bricks.
