Worst PS3 Model?

Is the 40GB FAT CECHG01 the worst ps3 model when it comes to problems and system failures? I hear a lot bad things about it, blu ray drive failures, downgrade issues, ylod/glod

I had a CECHG once, I didn't like it because it had the Uncharted 2 turbo fan problem. Sounded like a hair dryer after 5 - 15 minutes of playing that particular game. No idea what temperatures it was hitting, as this was way before we had temperature sensor reading homebrew. YLOD is probably the main concern but you could say that's a concern for any fat PS3 really.

CECHG is the last PS3 model released with NANDs (SEM-001 board).

Personally, I would avoid this model.

As I'm sure you all know, there are exceptions to every rule. I have had a few chechg01 models, and knock on wood, no issues. The first one I got, was a kiosk model that I'm sure was mistreated being it was on display all day every day. I recieved it, remarried a drive to it, because someone gutted the laser out of the drive it came with, and then I Jailbroke it. After that I sold it, and that was almost a year ago. Still talk to the guy who bought it, and it is still going strong. Also, I just bought another cechg01 that had never even been turned on. When I turned it on, it asked for what language I wanted and it was in the original firmware, 2.xx. I lucked up and got it cheap, because a dad bought it for his daughter before she went to college, and she left it back at home and never turned it on. This one, also no problems yet. I think you run a risk with all ps3s because of there decision to put the most power consuming, overheating device inside the console......the power supply.

Mine was running for 6 years..4 years original owner, then 2 years me. Multi man would show my rsx at 80C. Told that to a person who fixes and ps3's and said that's not good

Anyone got a word to say about CECHL models ? Got 3 comming in this week, don't want to have one dying on my workbench.

Back to topic, CECHG must be the model with the worst reputation around, I can't judge it myself, I never got into NAND flashing

Like I said, cechG models haven't been bad to me. @katsuru cechL models are the most likely to get hardware related rsod, which is not fixable. I have had around 7 cechL models with rsod.....none of them where fixable with the fixes out or reflashing.
Back ontopic, I don't think anyone can say what model is the worst or best. All of the consoles have their own issues. The first gen models overheated, the first nor based models (cechL) were shipped with a unreliable nor creating areas of bad flash leading to in repairable rsod, and now we have a wave of slim models that are blowning fuses or transistors leading to no power to the console whatsoever. Bottom line, with any console or electronics, you are gonna have failure rate. Some people get lucky and other don't. Just hope for the best and enjoy it while it lasts. Being worried about wether or not your console is going to die or it, well....it takes all the fun out of having one.
