PS3 Slim powers on and shuts down immediately

Hi Guys

A friend dropped off his PS3 for me to have a look at. Its a slim 120GB, for some reason the guy did a fan mod on it, and now the console powers on and immediately all lights goes off and now its dead. Unplug the cable and retry, same thing, i swopped power supplys and power/eject ribbon same thing

I opened up the console too have a look inside and found the chasis to be burnt, so i am assuming something has blown inside, maybe an overload of voltage because of the fan mod

Please have a look at the pics attached of the burnt area and if it is possible to repair or toss the console in the bin

@cowboy61 , what i the board number, it looks alot like the JSD-001 board but it's not 100% matching.

a good picture from the same board, would probably do miracles.

EDIT: it's a DYN-001

he must have short the 12V to ground on the fan connector, and there's no fuse in between on the board, so there can go alot of current through those traces.

i am hoping that @baileyscream , @playerkp420 or @Sarah1331 is having the dyn-001 board by accident and can take good picture
because it's hard to see if the damage can be repaired for now.

Yeah it would be nice to see the board close up and see what burnt and if it can be repaired. Hoping somebody can post a close up

oh dear god!
what did you do?
that first pic.
that component needs a good clean to start with. try alcohol and a tooth brush to carefully clean it then we might see if the trace is shot.
but I suspect that's just the impact zone.
the component (and i'm not 100% sure what it is atm) may be blown or another one further along the tracks may be blown.
this is the problem with doing your own mods. you need to be so carefull where you route wires.

if your in the uk then I would love to get my hands on it as having it in hand is going to be so much easer to fault find and repair rather than doing it via images and daily messages

@cowboy61 , do you measure a short on the prongs?
and do the same on F6301 put one probe to ground and the the other one on the fuse, both sides.
set your meter to 200 ohm range

if there's no short you can you measure if you have low resistance from the + prong (12V) to the fuse F6301 and then from the fuse to the fan connector (where the brown wire goes from the fan)

i do believe it's a 12v trace, but i also do think the trace is in a different layer.

EDIT:
@baileyscream , this is how it should look like,it's from a different board.
i think the part near the hole is a 5V regulator, and i am 100% sure the left upper pin is the output

I was thinking that.
the left and right pins must be strait through pins.
it was that his is in such bad shape that it was hard to tell lol

so I wonder if the top gnd or the 12v side is blown this would then prevent the 5v output and I assume that powers secondary components.

I don't have one of these boards to do any tests on though so I can only assume atm.

Yip when i opened it up the Brown wire was cut from the fan and then taped to another wire.

Will get my Multimeter and run some tests

Thanks for the reply, its not my PS3, its a friends who gave it to me to check. The guy looks like he did a cheap fan mod and now it has blown the 5V regulator. i cleaned it up and there is one big fat hole

I stay in South Africa though, their is literally one big fat hole in the board now, any idea where i can get a 5V regulator
