my friends cecha 00 was swtching off (ylod) every15 mins of playing games.
he opened it n heatgunned it.. now d ps3 opens n stays fine, but as soon as multiman or any xmb game is started, d screen goes black..

he thn noticed he had seated d ribbon cable of d bluray lens on d wrong side,
(d board side on d drive, n d drive side on d board),
thn he put it back in d correct way, but it seems d blucolred plastic holding d edge of d strip broke.

now d ps3 opens n stays open fine n doesnt switchoff for few hours, but as soon as he starts any game on xmb or tries opening multiman, screen goes black..

does he need to change d ribbon cable of bluray?? or
needs to change d whole bluray??

any suggestions appreciated..

How to attach a bluray ribbon cable properly to d boardside, if d clip lock is broken,
n also d blue strip at corners of d cable has peeled off??

uhh

have you tried playing a REAL game? or a psn game (also real). or even tried WITHOUT the bluray drive (as its not needed for most games).

if it does it during that, try applying pressure to the rsx and trying again.

d ps3 is on 3.55..

d disc inside doesnt show on screen also..
xmb game starts goes to black screen,
so does multiman..

If it black screens on the xmb without trying to load anything, chances are gpu is causing problems. If the clip is broken where you put the bluray ribbon cable and the black screen happens when you try launching any homebrew then that is likely your problem.

js when game trying anygame frm xmb or opening multiman, d screen goes black.
neither does d gow3 disc in d bluray show on d screen.

some people succesfully cut a little from the end of that cable and use a knife i think to expose the copper again.

so, technically you are shorten the cable a bit.

and you said he swapped the cable in the first place, mainboard in drive and vice versa, it still should work, if the cable sits properly.

i just opened d ps3.
d clip (lock) holding d ribbon cable is broken on d boardside..
he has attached it using a papertape.
maybe thts d issue.
how do u attach a ribbon cable properly to d board, if d lock is broken?

i remember a thread about someone wanting to solder a complete new connector because the clip was broken, and someone suggested something to replace that clip, but somehow i can't find the thread...

if i only can remember the username, all i know it was an annoying member.

I remember that thread. Someone suggested using a business card. Cut it the width of the ribbon, and stick it on top of the ribbon when you push it in the connector. Then tape it down.
