Multiman won't install package files

PS3 Slim (2000 series)
3.55 CFW
Multiman 4.18.04

Problem
When I try to install a package file from within MultiMan using the "Install Package Files" feature in the menu, it goes to black screen and then kicks me back to the PS3 menu. I can't install Retroarch or update MultiMan from within MultiMan.

I don't know if this problem existed before, as this was actually the first time I've attempted to install package files from within MM. Installing pkg files works from the games tab of the PS3 main menu.

Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Forget about your problem that really isn't a problem. And upgrade to 4.3 cfw I'd recommend rogero 4.3 v2.05 it will install direct form the xmb via storage media. 3.55 is the past. Honest it is easy to upgrade and saves so much hassle. i.e game fixes are a thing of the past. C'mon get with the times.

it was actually always thought that you install pkgs from the xmb,
but when the 4.30 cfw was brand new, it was not possible to do this,
so they made something in multiman to install pkgs,
but now we got this feature back and i dont get whats your problem when this works ^^

anyway... when you install pkgs with multiman there should be some bubbles in the xmb i think, never used this, only heard about it,
the same bubbles like when you download something from psn which needs to be installed (demos, games, whatever...)

i want to see a 4.31 cfw period. one where you dont need to downgrade to 3.55 to do it. i know its not impossible i just think alot of the team that got 3.55 is gone. like the math genius for example. i know some of the keys are out there. the 4.0 sdk is out there. seems like there should be a solution to do it via a usb flash drive like 3.55 cfw. anyone know about 4.0 or 4.31 reverse engineering? im guessing its similar?
