CECHC04 YLOD Help

Hello guys, my FAT boy CECHC04 got ylod today, so I'm going to fix it by my self, I have heat gun (can go from 0c up to 600c)

So what should I reflow with heatgun?

Also I will first try to open PS3, move out MBO, connect PSU and power on to see if CPU get hot (that mean CPU is not damaged, i think GPU is, so when I reflow GPU should I reflow also north bridge or?)

Can anyone tell me is it possible to fix it to work good? Also i'm gonna remove heatsink's from GPU, CPU and clean all and put MX4 from artic silver.

Any help?

id try an oven reflow b4 a heatgun :| if you dunno what to do and arent careful you can make your issue much worse. and the oven method is a reasonably low temp that remelts your gpu and cpu solder. it also requires you to replace the thermal paste at the same time so its two birds with one stone and you arent gonna accidently burn something you need as the oven isnt hot enough. take a look and decide if it looks better for you

and before that did you try the obvious of checking all the wires and ribbon cables? lol

reflow would only be a temp fix with a heat gun on a ps3, some will last 2 weeks others will last up to 6 months to a year. best find more of a scale to reball it. it you do a simple heat gun trick just heat your cpu and gpu for about 5 10 minutes and it wlll do a 2 week fix at most. good luck and hope they didnt knock a piece off to cause the ylod.

their are other things you can try too. reflow the board and set it all up but if its a heating issue also replace the thermal paste. if it still overheats well.. its january. case off. open window a crack and place ps3 near it. that should lower the temp :P worked for a cpl months for an overheating issue i had a cpl years ago before i started fixing stuff and learning what was what
