It wasn't really help. If you would have looked at the video it was for an i7 920. I have an i7 950. The comments even go on to state that it doesn't work for my processor. Thanks anyways, but don't tell me I didn't look when I did. I even apparently paid more attention to the vid than you.

a viable point is also having a stable power supply with these i7 cpus on overclocking. i mean using green power supplies with power saving and unstable lines or alike is no good.
and then i think the best stress test tool is linx.

i have also an extreme edition i7 cpu, and have to say no guide or tutorial was of any help to me, as i have found my own configuration with best felt perfomance.

i would concentrate on qpi, which value you can go to highest (assuming you have decent cooling). with some high voltage on your 950 it should go a bit over 8000. from there i would go down to wished performance with good voltages on everything.

i am overclocking with multi on my extreme and using the highest qpi which feels so much better than using high bclk on lowest qpi.

@BobbyBangin Check that link that i posted above and start some tests with that guide and follow @haxxxen advices hence there's no definitive guide to OC any CPU/RAM too many different configs.

from pictures i can see you are running win7 or vista. i would recommend also adjusting level2 data cache in registry with your new value. i can remember it would give me some instability with win7 if not doing it with my i7.

the setting you can find in:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management]
"SecondLevelDataCache"=dword:00000600
this is my setting for the gulftown which has lv2 6 x 256 kbytes=1536 decimal or 600 hex. for your example you would need 4 x 256 kbytes=1024 decimal or 400 hex in registry.
though i do not know if relevant for others, but on my side there were some serious sound problems and filesystem problems without it.

edit
sorry i cannot go in detail with exact settings, but this i have done about 3 years ago now. i only remember it was a very long process to find best results for me and took me nearly 2 months in the end to make it perfect to me. also i remember i had most problems with qpi setting and voltage rather than cpu or ram. as the uclk/qpi gets changed with modified bclk i have found using exact 2:1 qpi:uclk give the best performance.
for example i am using uclk=3683, qpi=7386 (but the highest one) with bclk=153,5 and multi 27

Send a message via Yahoo to varaques
your motherboard ,cooling,memory,& power supply also matters when overclocking . you should never overclock with just a cpu fan or a heatsink .... you should use a watercooler for best results
