www.notalwaysright.com

It's always enjoyable to wander through the site reading what other people have encountered from customers. This tiny comic strip was great.

http://notalwaysright.com/bbb-from-the-b/25646

I'd post the picture, but this site censors the f bomb and that's in the picture's link.

The site also has 3 others that are notalwaysworking, notalwaysromantic, and notalwaysrelated. Has anybody ever been to these sites much? I'm usually going through notalwaysright because that seems to have the best stories of the 4.

They nailed it. That inconsiderate person is everywhere. Too stupid to know things are in alphabetical or numerical order, doesn't seem to notice not to leave frozen food in the electronics section, doesn't get the hint that everything red is in one place and not scattered everywhere, and generally just makes you want boot them hard in the skull. I can understand it for some people, like children or mentally impaired people, but I encounter them about every 1 in 100 different people so I guess the ratio is about 90 out of every 100 people need to go croak for the benefit of other people everywhere.

Working in customer service areas is a huge eye opener as to just how ignorant and lazy people can be.

Then they attack you for issues that are totally beyond your control.

I can't tell you how many times I got yelled at for an increase in gas prices or because the smokes they wanted weren't in stock.

All kinds of stories too. The dude who broke our toilet and flooded my store with poo; finding a chopped up dog in the garbage bins; a family full of silly people who tried to push an RV off the lot when it's brakes locked; customers dropping propane tanks; etc etc.

notalwaysright is a nice outlet for the people who deal with these individuals day in and day out.

Thanks for the rehash!

A great way to handle customers: http://notalwaysright.com/murrays-law/22083

(I work at a complaints and returns desk. We generally get a few unreasonable and abusive customers each day, so we’ve developed a very effective tactic for dealing with them.)

Me: “Hello, how can I help you today?”

Customer: “You guys are idiots!”

Me: “I’m sorry to hear that. What seems to be the problem?”

Customer: “Look at this receipt! Look at it!”

(He holds up a receipt for a purchase; it looks normal enough.)

Me: “Is there a problem with it?”

Customer: “God, you’re so dumb! Look how faint the ink is! I can barely read it! You want me to go blind?!”

Me: “Ah, well, it looks like the printer’s ink was running a little low, and it can look faded because of that. Would you like me to reprint it so you can read it?”

Customer: “NO! Then you’ll just get away with it! Stupid idiots!”

(The customer starts getting worked up and begins a rant full of swear words and physical threats. I realise what the situation calls for.)

Me: “I am terribly, terribly sorry sir. That looks like Murray did it. What an idiot!”

(This stops the customer’s rant in his tracks and looks at me, breathless.)

Customer: “…Murray?”

Me: “Yes, Murray! He’s always causing problems for customers like you. It’s really unfair. I’ll deal with it right now.” *calling out* “Murray? Come here!”

(As per protocol, the nearest male coworker who isn’t busy comes over to play the role of Murray.)

Male Coworker: “Yes?”

Me: “How dare you upset this customer! You’re fired! Get out!”

Male Coworker: *acts dejected* “I’m so sorry…”

(“Murray” shuffles off looking like he’s about to cry, and once out of sight gets right back to work.)

Me: “There we are, sir. You don’t have to worry about that sort of thing happening ever again. The customer always comes first, and we take complaints very seriously. Have a nice day!”

Customer: “Wow, you guys are really great! Thanks, and good riddance to that idiot Murray!” *leaves*

(This isn’t simply to avoid confrontation; our manager estimates that using the “Murray” tactic to placate customers like this saves us nearly an hour of verbal abuse each day, so we have more time to actually help the customers who need it.)

The site is loaded with awesome things. Some stories are just wonderful, awesome, and heartwarming. Helping those who need it, kindness, mercy, humility and understanding, learning, all of the good stuff.

Others though... They refuse to admit to a mistake no matter how incredibly stupid they are nor apologize. I read about a lady being a complete ***** in a restaurant because she wanted the ice at the bottom of her drink. Yes, she is too stupid to know that ice floats to the top. She decided with a smug grin to show them "How it's done and how much better she could do their jobs". Put the ice in first, and then pour the Pepsi in. Didn't work, no apology nor admitting being wrong, and nothing but attitude. They can't be corrected because most places fire you if you retaliate against a customer. I think some customers need a lot of sense knocked into them. Especially bigots, racists, sexists, older people thinking they know everything far better than younger people or the other way around, people insulting physically or mentally handicapped people, religious psychos, homo bashers, all of them over the top crazies. Some customers need to be disciplined, it would make the world a much better place to open their minds and make them handle humility without violence, threats, and attacks. Some of the psychos in the stories end up with cops or mobs of customers pulling people off of each other over nothing. That woman is too dumb and useless to be operating manly power tools and should be in the kitchen cooking and cleaning, that homo is going to hell, that dumb American couldn't possibly understand us speaking Chinese and detailing our evil deeds in this store right in front of him, that young punk doesn't know a single thing or hard work, that retard should be locked up instead of working around "normal" people, and it just goes on to no end with the rotten things people say and do. I hope nothing but the worst for them.
