Need some help on a dilemma I'm having..
So I just joined because I'm interested in jailbreaking my PS3 Slim (4.31/CECH-2503A) for the sole purpose of enabling it to play all Blu-Ray regions, and maybe using the PS2 emulator. Mainly just for the Blu-Ray regions though.
However, after researching for a good few hours, I see that I need to downgrade to 3.55 using a flasher such as E3 or Progskeet. The thing is, I'm not really comfortable with disassembling my PS3 or soldering and would rather not do it, and I wouldn't really be comfortable with anybody else doing it. I guess what I'm asking is, is there any way to unlock my PS3 Blu-Ray regions without hard-modding the console? Even if I could do a portable jailbreak via USB would be something (I read that I could jailbreak my PS3 with a USB key, then just take the USB key out to revert back to stock PS3 OFW). I've used the search function but couldn't find anything regarding this. Thanks!

No.
You need to downgrade with hardware to 3.55, you could however look for people offering services, such as @Sarah1331 or @playerkp420 ... it all depends on your region (where you are in the world) Also I have no idea about region free'ing your BD's... and the PS2 "emu" is currently rubbish on slims. You are better off with PS2 classics downloaded to your PS3, rather than an emu for discs.

There are quite a few PS2 games now if they float your boat:

Thank you! I'm mostly wanting to play the Tony Hawk PS2 games again, but they aren't on the PS Store.
Also, a question I forgot to put in the original post: Is there any way for me to downgrade with the E3 Flasher that DOESN'T require soldering or messing with the motherboard in any way? Thanks. |

For the cost and effort of getting a flasher, get a professional to do it. It will cost less than half the price to get someone to flash it than it would to buy the e3. Some of the guys offer a replacement is they screw it up.
