u dont even need the usb power..just attach the clip to nor chip..it will power itself..this is helpfull if u want to attach the hdd..

This may sound noobish also but if you connect the ribbon to E3's NOR to power it up how will you read the NOR from PS3 ? Do you need to solder something from the E3 to the MB ?

If you connect the clip ('ribbon)' to the E3's NOR - nothing happens. It does not provide power. Did you even look at the image I posted?

You actually have to read things that were posted on here to understand.
