Hi. Kinda new to the PS3 hack scene so just wondering if anyone can help me out.

I've got kneaw 3.55 CFW (i think, I know its 3.55 CFW) and I would like to "upgrade" so that I can play some of the newer games, can someone please explain exactly what I need and what I need to do in order to do this?
I am running MultiMan 02.07.01.

Like, what paks do I need to download? What order do I do things in? I'm quite noobish and also quite scared as I don't want to ruin my PS3.

It is a slim PS3 if that helps too.

You will want to erase your data (not necessary, just make sure you backup first and erase all of your CFW apps) and QA flag/enable debug update, then install whatever 4.XX MFW you want straight from there. Make sure you don't have a disc in either.

I use RogerO 4.30 v2.05...Spoof of 4.31 FW...Multiman 4.19.04
There are a couple of very simple & straight forward Tutorials on this site for Noobs...Especially this one : Nicolas's MiralaTijera CFW 4.31 NooB Tutorial

Very straight Forward & Simple... You can just go back to 3.55 OFW, then upgrade to RogerO 4.30 V2.05...Install Multiman, go to Multiman XMB, scroll far left, go to top & upgrade to latest Multiman 4.19.04...Will play all the new games. Update game software from inside Multiman. You can download themes, etc...Go to Multiman Forums & learn what you can do...Hope this Helps

Ok so I used the Nicolas's MiralaTijera CFW 4.31 NooB Tutorial and I am now running it fine but can someone answer a few questions?

I installed Multiman (multiMAN ver 04.19.05 UPD CEX) that was in the download packages on the tutorial page but when I go to run it, it says I need to install the base or full version. Any ideas why? And when I try to do a network update, it fails .... Any clues?

What is CORE? Do I, as a "normal, just want to play games" user need it?


Also, I'm having some video overlay issues.
When I play a video, it plays fine except that the "Play" triangle that appears is in the middle of the screen, same if you pause, the pause symbol appears in the middle of the screen.
And if I press Triangle or Select, the menu's these bring up are all messed up.

Like the Triangle menu is off the screen so you can't actually see it but it still works.
The Select menu, for example - the times don't show next to the bar indicating how long it is and it you try to jump to a point (from the Triangle menu), all the numbers appear on top of each other so you can't read them.

Install base or full version and then update in multiman to the latest version. Full has all the themes and music etc... Base is without the themes and music etc... Search Hax for multiman base/full depending on what you want.
