PS3 OFW 4.31 To CFW?
I've been looking around this site on how/if it's possible to get CFW on a Slimline PS3 with the current firmware being 4.31 OFW. I really haven't come across anything that would general help a nubby out.
My question is, What tools would I need in order to put whatever CFW is the most viable and has the best game compatibility on my PS3(If it's even possible)? |

You can't end of story, and read the banner up the top.
Do not ask again. Welcome to the forum btw, soz for the tone but this is the most hated question and has been answered time and time again. You haven't searched for the truth, you've just ignored the truth please make sure you just accept the truth even if you don't like it in future,

Ya'know I never even realized the banner was there.
Apologies, and thanks for the answer. So in order to have CFW, I would have to find a PS3 with the firmware being no higher than 4.20? Shouldn't be that hard to find one. |

Above 3.55 and you will still need to pay for extra hardware and be able to use a soldering iron. 3.55 and below you can do it with software, if you can't use a soldering iron, don't even consider it. Track down a 2nd hand PS3 Slim on 3.55 or below, they go for a premium (sometimes ridiculous premium), but they are available for a reasonable price if you're willing to spend some time hunting them down. A good first step would be to not bother with ebay, try local pawn shops/2nd hand shops, and classified sections on forums. They pop up here quite often but usually they are being sold by hit and run pricks who are only here to sell and at stupid high prices. Every time one comes up for sale here, it never sells because the turd that's selling it prices it to high and thinks we're all mugs. Also by nature of the item, often it's teenagers selling them so they are unreliable and not to be trusted - as a general guideline ![]() Best bet as mentioned, is to check physical bricks/mortar 2nd hand stores where you can inspect it, check warranty seal. Just make sure you avoid and "fat" modesl, they are all beginning to suffer YLOD, lots have been temporarily fixed and sold on, this fix lasts a few months tops then each time the fix is done it lasts less time until it won't work at all.
