Can't load any PS3 backups...Everything else works fine
I am on 3.55.2 REBUG CFW and no matter what I try, I can't run any backup at all, running the games from BD works perfectly. I've tried using multiman, iris manager, gaia manager, all with and without a disc in the drive, and I've tried messing with various settings on all managers and games and even messed around with a few settings in rebug toolbox.
I've installed bdemu and re-installed it and nothing seems to make any difference. The games just load to a black screen. Sometimes I can get the XMB to show up when I press the PS button and sometimes I can't; it's just completely random. The most progress I ever got was with ModNation Racers where I saw a little bit of HDD activity and a flash of green on the TV but that's about it. What am I missing? This really should be easier than it is. Re-installed OFW 3.55 and then installed kmeaw 3.55 in recovery menu and still NOTHING WORKS!!! What the hell can I possibly be doing wrong? Blu-Ray games work, playing DVDs works, and I can play PSX ISOs through IrisManager without a single hitch, so obviously my system works right? |

If you want to make your life easier, just get Rogero 4.30CFW or Rebug 4.30.1 CFW. Multiman left support for old CFW on 3.55. I don't see any reason why you would want to stay on 3.55CFW when 4.30CFW is a lot better. You wont even need to patch all current released PS3 games

I forgot to mention that when I received this console 2 days ago (I bought it with OFW 3.55 already installed), the first thing I did was install Rogero 4.30 v2.05 and it had all the same issues. That's the only reason I've been trying all these other CFW, hoping in vain that something would actually work the way it's supposed to.
EDIT: I've been thinking...I just got a freeze when I tried to change internal memory cards for a PSX game I was playing and have been experiencing random freezes and a few slow startups since I got this thing. Could it be the HDD is just failing and I would just have to go buy another one? Last edited by Subtle Demise; 02-15-2013 at 10:42 PM. |

Bad dumps of the games probably, also are you trying to load them from internal or external, and are you loading them with a ps3 DISC in the drive or by running them discless

It could be, I'll try deleting them all and putting them back. I'm running the games from internal and I have tried using both discless and disc-in methods. Neither one seems to make any difference.
EDIT: Strange...went back to 4.30 Rogero and tried to launch lbp2 through mm with Front Mission Evolved disc in drive and for some reason 2 different disc icons showed up: one titled Little Big Planet 2 and the other was just "-" without the quotes. Couldn't launch the "-" one and the other just did the same old black screen. Last edited by Subtle Demise; 02-15-2013 at 10:59 PM. |

@Subtle Demise
thats cause the "-" one is the bonus content that came with the GOTY edition of LBP2, if it doesnt say anything on it that means the content was removed from your Downloaded game to save space for bandwidth. Im not sure why your having problems with your ps3 but im running 4.30 rebug and havnt had any game loading issues with MM. I am willing to help you figure this out though ************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* have you tried turning the BDMIRROR option on for the games, and also you have a better chance at the games running from a external source with disc in drive. I always had issues trying to get games to load from internal sometimes. So I said screw it im putting all my games on external and using BDMIRROR, now granted some games you dont have to have that option on .

That makes sense because I followed some guides on how to free up space and what sort of unwanted files are safe to delete from the game folders. I have tried the bdmirror option but I will copy Disgaea 4 to my thumb drive since that is only about 3GB and see if i can launch it externally. Could be the internal hard drive is just taking a crap (that's what I get for buying secondhand, I guess).
************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* **** I may have figured out the problem. I didn't realize the thumbdrive I was using had a games folder on the root from using it on my Wii with a bunch of GCN games. Still gonna try to launch the game externally and see what happens. EDIT: It worked!!! I'm playing Disgaea 4 from my thumbstick right now! Hopefully that fixed my internal problem too, otherwise I guess I just reformat my Wii external Hard Drive and call it no big loss lol. Thanks for your help @snkysnake02 I'm sure I'll be back here some other day when something else goes wrong lmao. For now I'll be finally enjoying my PS3

I'm still having a few problems unfortunately. I still think my internal HDD is messed up in some way because I split the files for my external for MGS4 and then let MM create a cache for it on the internal drive and every time I try to load the game from the disc icon and it just kicks me right back to XMB after a minute or so. Copied the game to internal drive and guess what? My friend the black screen comes back to haunt me. Are these the symptoms of a failing hard drive? I just want to check and make sure before I go spend a good chunk of money on a new one.
