blu ray drive reset and STIll thinks disk

Hey guys,

Just reset a bluray (done quite a few so I know what im doing) but the ps3 still thinks a disk is in there I even put a disk in manually and had it eject, turned the ps3 off and now it thinks there iis a disk in there again. No idea how thats possible lol any ideas?

Its all about the mechanism. You clearly don't know what you're doing.

lol I know exactly what im doing I even put a disc in manually and got it to eject the blue light turned off and then i turned the ps3 off then back on. blue light returned.

what model is it? old ps3s have an ir sensor, newer ps3s have a switch.

Its an old 60gb so it has the ir is it possible to tell if its dead by looking at it or woukd you need a voltmeter? I have other ir's so
hat would be an easy fix

yeah the connection on it is very weak so it could be the issue.

that or something is in its way.

you said you put manually a disc in, dous the eject button work to get the disc out?, or do you have to hold the eject button for a while to do a force eject...

worked right away when I tried the first time I tried the force eject nothing happened the drive made a little noise like the laser moving a milimeter but nothing happened.

When I put the disc in manually and then ejected it worked just fine

if you manually put a disc in and it works just fine, but trying to insert a disc and the bluray won't suck it in, then it could be the sensor, the red/black connector is very brittle, i am speaking from experience.

Found the problem lol it was on the bottom ir board that lil gray push button thing that senses if the rollers are forward. The button was broke off lmao took a while to see that. Ill post pics lol replaced that board works fine now
