Mediocre.

As far as graphical capabilities and processing power is concerned, the specs are what I expected as the natural successor to the PS3 and its capabilities. Delighted to hear that ram would be 8gb rather than the speculated 4gb.

The tech demos reflected this expectedly.

Truth be told, the thing that excited me the most was in fact Watchdogs, but I guess there might still be hope for the game arriving on every other console (PS3, XB360 etc).

Other than that, I doubt I have any intent on purchasing a PS4 any time soon. Will most likely wait until the second, perhaps third release of the console just as I purchased my first ps3 (slim) nearly a month ago after not having one for 6/7 years.

With my half a decade backlog of PS3 and Wii gaming to catch up on, I think I will be kept busy for a while while the PS4 settles in the market. I've never really been one to NEED to get a console and new game on release so I can wait out the years. And perhaps, when it can be considerably hacked, I'll finally get it.

Also, I like my solo offline gaming experiences and this insistence of being online to socially game on my PlaywiistationPC 4 is a joke. Only the games will tell.

Summary: PS4 = Decent Machine, not particularly exciting, gaming hasn't been innovated that much (or so for now...). We'll see what the devs come up with through the years.

Im still looking for that "wow" factor. The thing that you look at an upcoming console and think to yourself "that is awesome!". PSX had it, PS2 damn sure had it, PS3 not so much and now PS4....meh? If they think this online rubbish is the wow factor they have a serious problem.

Even the 360 had it as it was the first one to wow us with current gen graphics. I remember playing gears 1 and remember my eyes melting.

The only two reasons I originally bought a ps3 was MGS4 and Blu-Ray playback. The good exclusives were an insanely good bonuses (not to mention later on having a fully unlocked homebrew machine/media centre). And also, not to mention this "small" problem:

PSX was cool because it was innovative and played audio CDs as well.
PS2 was cool because it had better graphics and played DVDs as well.
PS3 was cool because it had better graphics and played Blu-Rays as well.
?PS4 was cool? because it had better graphics and....."insert some amazing feature that makes playstation stand out from the rest or this console wont be as popular"......?

Sony better have something up there sleeve and I mean OTHER THAN a kind of pathetic online service. Not everyone is being held by the nuts by konami, being forced to buy every playstation that has an MGS on it like me. Especially when there is going to be a perfectly good Microsoft product that does exactly the same thing (better?)

Theres two things that i personally do like about it though, on the other hand. One is the controller with the speaker. I can see what you going to do already Mr Kojima. Busy infiltrating with Snake and "RING...RING". The controller makes the codec sound. The second thing I like is the x86 architecture. The closer the architecture is to a computer I would think in theory it would be easier jailbreaking as was stated. No doubt Sony is going to have an insane security system in place though so at the same time its irrelevant. Time will tell. Nothings unhackable.

Where is the "absolutely hate it" option?

Sony is messed up... but I will wait until more details are revealed...

What if the user (customer) doesn't want to use (buy) all the online features (products), and just want to use the console to actually play games and have fun?

Sony hasn't learn the lesson from Nintendo, users / players just want to have fun and actually play.

To me it seems like Sony is only thinking in money and how to put their hands inside people's pocket.

I miss the old days where it was about playing games and having fun.

SeeYa!

Amen to this post.

They need to give us a choice to use OUR game console solely as a game console, without being force fed online services/gimmicks.

Not necessarily. The original xbox was a x86 machine, and the filesystem (among other things in the architecture) was a limiting factor. But I could be wrong

A bit dissapointed, i sure miss those days where we went from Super Nintendo to N64, PS2. The Graphic is allright, but really not a huge step forward.

Hopefully its not that hard to get the thing cracked, i need Showtime and other usefull homebrew, cause Im sure they hav'ent thought about mkv support yet, but i can be wrong though.

I will most likely wait to buy it till the slim version comes out, like I did with my PS3.
