So I have been trying to downgrade my slim ps3 which was on 4.31OFW using the e3 flasher, I had to clamp this to get a good connection.

All seemed to be going well until I used the e3 card reader to trigger FSM, my dumps seem to be valid and I had the one I'm using checked on here and it was given the all clear.

So after trying to trigger FSM, the blue light illuminated on the e3 dongle, then the system shut down, from here on the system will not stay on for longer than 15 seconds, no beeps, no hdmi signal, it just shuts off.

I have soldered the tristate to the sbe on the e3 cable and this allows me to flash my patched dump back successfully using the flash fun switch but the problem still remains when the e3 flasher is removed, and when I try and install firmware it does nothing and shuts down and no hdmi video is present.

Any ideas? I have reconnected the bluray drive and the hdd, I have left the cable soldered but the clips are not connected at either end so there should be no ground from the tristate.

I have also replaced the thermal paste and fitted the heatsink securely .

My ps3 is the CECH-2002A

1. Make sure you are flashing back a patched bkpps3.bin and not the byte reversed bkpps3.swap.bin

- offset 200-203 should be FI.I

2. Maybe the clip is not making proper contact anymore (check by making a dump and comparing it to the file you wrote beforehand)


Just 2 possible faults to get started with :o

How can I make a fresh dump when the ps3 will only stay on with the flash fun switch up? This isn't usually up when making a dump.

Switches 1 and 3 up, others down.

just did this and the dumps appear to be valid, any other ideas?

I'm using the Nor Dump Auto-Patcher v0.01 by Rogero to patch the origional clean dump, and have also tried the one click method, both seem to flash fine, but same problem.

Could always try the alternative patch, thus avoiding having to enter F/S Mode. See Chapter 2 of playerpk420's guide - http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=33989 Easy peasy

I don't think the problem is with the dumps.

You got to the connect controller screen, then enter FSM mode with your dongle?

Since the PS3 is in a recovery screen, it will not boot when in Factory/Service mode. It wants to find the Lv2diag.self. Which will tell it what to do.

Why did you not continue with the guide?

Put the files Lv2diag.self and PS3UPDAT.PUP on a fat32 formatted USB drive.
Put the USB in the right most port and turn the PS3 on and wait.
It will install the firmware, and shut off after about 4 min.
Then put the other Lv2diag.self on the USB by itself. To tell the PS3 to exit FSM.

After I got the connect controller screen, I put it into FSM as the guide suggested, from here on it will not stay turned on, will turn off after 15 seconds, and it won't install any firmware, it just turns off.

omg turned out to be dodgy usb drives, work fine on the ps3, tried another and it worked, thanks for your help

This happened to me too in the past, there was probably some error in writing with E3, I solved by rewriting the dump NOR, after entering in FSM, the PS3 was still on.
