The other option is to draw layers of waves using sin/cos trigonometry etc with a gradient bg colour, and some how gradient fill between them then animate,... similarly to how sony did... I guess that's how they did it.

Of course this doesnīt look that nice. Itīs only a small loop. :D

Maybe you can do it with a video. But this isnīt an easy task. You could try the mediaplayer class or directX. I have never used these. Donīt know if overlaying videos is possible.

APNG is too big.
The best option is a video background but I don't know how to do it.

I use both but I don't find any helpful information to draw into a video :/

For sh!ts and g!ggles I downloaded the 8.37 MB 1080p MP4 > converted to GIF and lolled at the clunky quality and its new 954.3 MB file size.... hehe!
