I want to read my nor but get same error everytime

120gb slim dyn motherboard

samsung nor chip

i succesfully downgraded ps3 just like this one a few weeks ago
but i bent the motherboard opening that ps3 and could not get it to work after i put it back together, i ended up reflowing that ps3 until i fried the gpu chip because i thought that was the problem because the ps3 would boot up and play as long as i had a stack of books on top of the gpu chip or fan, i relised it was the motherboard after i fried the gpu at 480c on my aoyue 968 the gpu actullay reached over 300c, im not upset that i fried it, it was trash to me if only way i could play it was on a box with a stack of books anyways, but i did get to learn how to downgrade it and install cfw and play back up games for a few weeks

so i got another ps3 just like it and i have sat down for many hours trying over and over to read the nor, i reseat the e3 flasher pads and cleaned them and nor chip with alcohol and q tips

but i always get the say error mesage

i have updated the e3 flasher again just to see if it would help, with the update that says its for multiple consoles in baileys guide after updating e3 flasher again i still got exact same error

i scraped away a little more plastic from the nor clip to make sure that is not the problem but its the exact same ps3 as the last ps3

i guess im gonna buy a couple more nor clips just to see if i have better luck with a new clip but i wont get them anytime soon

this is what e3 flasher log says...
start logging...backup PS3 BIOS.fail to initialize E3 Nor.

these are the error lights i get, its always, always the exact same error lights 1,5,6...
1 0 0 0 1 1 0 0 Failed to initialize PS3 BIOS Check pads / clip at PS3 board check may not be properly seated

i notice that when i push on the e3 board with all the switches that it makes some blue lights stay solid so i push on it until the solid blue lights stop, i notice this with the last ps3 but i still downgraded that ps3

check the front board connections...have a perm install one and did the same after awhile..tryin to dump..thinking first the clip have come loose but i'm sure it wasn't, push the e3 coverboard and check all connections there...also wait a bit longer before hitting "backup" incase the PS3 is stiull busy after boot..so in that end it could b simple fix before reclipping

i got more 120gb ps3's on the way and i bought another e3 flasher with clip and another seperate clip

just that i wont get them for 3 weeks

i will have a few other ps3's in the mail in a few days tho i will see if i can read nor off one of them but i imagine i will get the same 1,5,6 error

the last ps3 i downgraded i was getting errors but different errors, i would not get the same 1,5,6 error everytime, so this has me thinking it could be the clip or e3 flasher

You've either killed the NOR itself or you really suck at clipping.

You can also try unclipping the ribbon from the E3 itself and reattaching while the ps3 is still on.

Otherwise RIP PS3.

well the ps3 boots up and plays fine

if i try to read the nand to soon then i do get a different error
1 1 0 0 0 0 1 0 PS3 is operating NOR, E3 Flasher cannot operate at the same time Check toggle switch -wrong sitting

if i suck at clipping then i plan on getting better even if it costs me thousands of dollars

i dont care about the last ps3 or this one just getting better

and im doing this with the ps3 open just like the last ps3 that i downgraded

i just use my thumb and wait, i reclip with my thumb i got a read last time this way and i will do it again

i plan on downgrading ps3's and selling them so im not gonna leave the e3 flaher inside ps3's. i might do 1 or 2 dual boots and sell them for $50 more but thats farther down the road at this point

Why is this amateur hour?

http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/E3 <-- Read the **** out of this.

And look at this:

When you keep clipping, you keep 'destroying' the NOR. Isopropyl alcohol won't fix this.

If you get to the point where the clip wont stay on with the simplest drop on then you need forceful pressure like so:

This will damage the NOR more, but hey - you only need to do this ONCE.

The entire process should have been done ONCE.

If there is a problem after the second time you should have stopped.

Stop, relax and do it properly.

well i guess this means something else to worry about when buying used ps3's

i think someone already clipped the hell out of this one

and when you said damaged to my nor and dead ps3 i thought you meant different kind of damage to nor

and about that damage to my nor i think i just did that, ps3 wont boot now just shuts off, i guess i killed the nor

it shut off while i was moving the clip over the nor chip so i guess i bridged something for a split second and now its another dead ps3

guess i can still use it for parts, is there anything i can do to make it work again ?
************* [ - Post Merged - ] *************
that is the 2nd ps3 i lost, the first ps3 i bent the motherboard and this ps3 i guess i killed it because it just shuts off before it even tries to boot

well i guess with every ps3 i destory i learn something, i got more ps3's on the way some of them are 3.55 so i wont have to mess with them, but the ones that need downgrading i will be more careful, now that i know you can kill a ps3 just trying to read the nor

so i guess i cant fix this ps3 i just killed because it wont stay on, or is there anything i can do to salvage it ?

You should stop killing PS3s, and let someone that knows what they are doing, do it for you.

If you would of cleaned to Nor with alcohol, before putting the clip on. You would not of had to put all that pressure on it for no reason. Clean contacts, make a good connection.

And that clamp in @BwE 's post is not needed. LOL. Overkill. And will break your Nor chip for sure. Your not changing the brake pads on your truck.
