It would be possible but only for the usb drives (fat 32) about the hdd is encrypted so its not possible.

almost correct 50/50 it would be possiable to view other contents of a flash drive with spesific directories (note not all the drive.) and will not even be able to see pse has the bd data is all stored on the xmb hint sandbox/ hypervisor

So the PS3 HD is a no go for sure? I always thought that the whole point of encryption was to prevent HD access from outside the PS£ (I.e. network or Linux). If you are running an alternate file browser from within the PS3 OS is it not possible that the HD will be unlocked or at least semi-accessible?

I suppose the only way to find out would be to code a file browser (I wish I had the knowledge), for someone who knows it must be pretty basic stuff. I've seen similar projects on mobile phones that include file management and FTP such as mobyexplorer.

No, you can't even view the contents of the flash drive. You have absolutely no access to existing files. You can, however, view files and folders in the Blu-Ray Data sandbox area, which I assume is really in a single file stored on the hard drive.
