Yup, the menu is only 2.50. You'd have to upgrade normally.

I find it hard to believe that this particular menu has just appeared out of no where, which only works for 2.50 and the fact that Sony didn't inform anything about this in the changelog.txt. Why? Unless they forget to add this information, but I somehow doubt it.

Maybe this menu wasn't intentional, or maybe it actually was. Well, let me tell you; If Sony has released a new patch tomorrow, next week or so, that would be a good sign of why they are doing it (to remove the menu or fix its vulnerabilities).

There's a chance that this menu can be exploited, the reason why I'm saying this is because of the information findings above and we haven't messed around with this menu a lot yet.

Either way, great finding!

I wonder if the Recovery Meny will show up in the 2.51 FW, if not, then this is really interesting

It hasn't been forgotten to take of. If it was only for developers, why should they put this text in the menu: 'For information on how to obtain update data, refer to the SCE Web site for your region.'? Developers know that.

It's an another font, because it's a sort of service mode. If you want to start Windows in Safe Mode, the menu how to get in isn't the GUI of the OS. The PS3 system hasn't just started normally.

My best gues is that this option is implemented for security reasons.
Right now Sony no longer needs to ship "special" software that interfaces with the ethernet port towards repairshops...

Then why didn't they say so in the patch note? In the past, they have added information based on security...
