I see a billion youtube videos with a ton of different hacks. All I want to do is play my imports (real ones, not backups) without modding my older systems. Is it possible? Thanks

What systems are we talking about, cause if you mean ps2, go into the irc and i'll help, you set up a memery card exploit so your not actually modding your system, just a mem card, that should allow you to play your imports, you will need a way to get files to and from the mem card though, (eg. armax, gameshark, swapmagic,...)

You can buy them off of PSN, but other than that no other way without mods.
