The average filesize for a HD movie is about 20gb up to 30ish. You could store them at 3~4gb each, but not HD i wouldn't have thought

dd if=/dev/cdrom of=/dev/yourexternalhddhere/BlurayMovie.iso

type dmesg in the Terminal and look for your external's name it should be sd* * being the letter

look for something like this

sd 2:0:0:0: [sda] Attached SCSI removable disk
sd 2:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 0
scsi 2:0:0:1: Direct-Access Sony GL819 SD 1.08 PQ: 0 ANSI: 0
sd 2:0:0:1: [sdb] Attached SCSI removable disk
sd 2:0:0:1: Attached scsi generic sg2 type 0
scsi 2:0:0:2: Direct-Access Sony GL819 CF 1.08 PQ: 0 ANSI: 0
sd 2:0:0:2: [sdc] Attached SCSI removable disk
sd 2:0:0:2: Attached scsi generic sg3 type 0
