External HDD

Found this thing. It's useful if you don't mind having an external HDD and you can plug any type of HDD into it.

Here's the drive although you won't find it easily

Here's a 320GB drive I got and it works perfectly, you end up with 300GB after format:

i wouldnt hold ur breath mate, anyone with a 500gb 2.5 inch drive wont be looking to get rid of it just yet, im pretty sure 500gb 2.5inch drives are pretty new, so most people will only just be upgrading to them. best option is to look for a 250 or 320gb, u can pick those up pretty cheep these days and to be honest, 320gd would be plenty for a ps3 right now, its only gonna be for music and movies, or tv programs if u have PlayTV.
other option is get a 500gb or 1tb external and hide it away somewhere. the ps3 will read from it just as fast as its internal for watchin films or listening to music, and that way u can get a 500gb for aout £50, dunno how much in $.

i have a 500gb external and a 8gb usb stick and FULL 1080p hd movies play just fine off both, only time i have ever had any problems was when i tried to fast forward a 1080p video at x120, it skipped a bit and didnt run as smoothly as it does from the internal, but for just watching movies i'd say it is just as good as from the internal, and WAY better than from a disc.

The HDXT won't work for the 40GB Systems. Cause with the HDXT, you need the systems where you slide the HDD, then pull it out. The new 40GB systems are just a pull out.
