PSN Down?
I've been trying to access PSN for the last two days and it says the site is down for maintenance. Is anyone else having that problem? I'm trying to setup an account on the PSN right now, and I set up an account through the internet.
One thing to note is that I am running the firmware checker bypass trick... Is that causing the problem? |

PSN is working fine. And there is no "site maintenance" error.

Could you all tell me how you set up your proxy bypass? Right now I'm not home, but I am using a program with the name ps3proxy or something like that. I have it set to route to my computer address (192.168.2.70) and the program is set to send requests for the ps-updates.txt file to redirect it to the modified file (the one where the firmware is set to 00000 and something else is 000). Am I doing something wrong?
I think my firmware is 2.40 or 2.42. Is there another (better) method? Thanks guys for helping a noob like me

Im on 2.51 and this works for me and all other previous versions.
Right ok, Download THIS Proxy Server (Or check yours is the same...) Now run it, enter your PCs ip address into the ip box, leave the port as 8080. Now go to your ps3, and change the internet connection settings and enale the proxy to your pc. Now on your pc, Click on the tab 'Replace Files' (in the proxy server) and click add. On the left textbox that comes up, enter Code:
http://fau01.ps3.update.playstation.net/update/ps3/list/au/ps3 Now, you have modified your link for your country, open the link in a browser and you should see something like this: Code:
# AU/NZ Dest=89;CompatibleSystemSoftwareVersion=2.5300-; Dest=89;ImageVersion=000061f3;SystemSoftwareVersion=2.5300;CDN=http://dau01.ps3.update.playstation.net/update/ps3/image/au/2008_1202_5b0e9d62ff6e9edc796db9a2916824f0/PS3UPDAT.PUP;CDN_Timeout=30; Now change all the version numbers to 000000 Like This: Code:
# AU/NZ Dest=89;CompatibleSystemSoftwareVersion=0.0000-; Dest=89;ImageVersion=00003b05;SystemSoftwareVersion=0.0000;CDN=http://dau01.ps3.update.playstation.net/update/ps3/image/au/2008_0515_db48cbcde359982c065c2f5503204b67/PS3UPDAT.PUP;CDN_Timeout=30; So to clear that up, In the left textbox you should have the origional Http Link to the update.txt and in the right textbox, it should have the file path to the modded update.txt file on your computer. Done! ![]() Hope that was clear ![]() Hit the thanks button for me ;-) Last edited by NZHawk; 12-06-2008 at 06:07 PM. |

I just redid all my settings following what you said NZHawk and it's still giving me the Site Maintenance Notice
I am using a router and I did make a an exception for the port, but it's still failing. Any other suggestions? I am in the US. Here's my txt file info:# US Dest=84;CompatibleSystemSoftwareVersion=0.0000-; Dest=84;ImageVersion=000061f3;SystemSoftwareVersion=0.0000;CDN=http://dus01.ps3.update.playstation.net/update/ps3/image/us/2008_1202_5b0e9d62ff6e9edc796db9a2916824f0/PS3UPDAT.PUP;CDN_Timeout=30; Also, where is the thanks button located at? |
