I played for about 20 mins before I was happy with the results. It DOES work for me, but I also don't know what I am looking for as far as missing textures.....it looked fine to me. I'm using MGS 3: Subsistence disc 1, PS3 60gb NTSC US, with screensize set to fullscreen and smoothing on(ps3 setting). Don't know for sure if later in the game there are graphical glitches but I haven't seen anything yet. But, personally I think it might be ps3 model, as in if yours has the ps2 hardware or if it is software emulated.....that may be where your graphical issue comes from.... just a thought Last edited by stayhye; 01-17-2010 at 08:15 AM. |

Originally I had a long post on here about how my games turned off every 20 minutes. I said I would look into it and Well it seems my HDD on my pc was turning off after only 20 minutes of use and causing my ps3 to not have anything to stream from.
I fixed it a lot easier than I anticipated. I simply told it to never turn off. In my case I replace hdd yearly so being a little rough on it now does not matter to me. But I only recommend this method to people who after so many minutes it seems like their game just craps out. Follow these steps to keep your hdd running and not to shut off when it is streaming to your ps3. VISTA: Control Panel >All Control Panel Items >Power Options >Edit Plan Settings, then select Change advanced power settings. Go down to Hard Disk and select the alloted amount of time you would like it to turn off in. 7: control panel >Hardware and sound > Power options> Find your plan and select Change Plan Settings. Goto hard disk and select the alloted amount of time you would like it to turn off in. For me I simply set it to never and now games keep playing after 20 minutes. REMEMBER. Do this only after you continually get booted from a game after a set period of time. This is somewhat rough on the HDD and could damage them after years of use at this rate. @ dreaddiekruger: Youre saying you've had no games boot at all? : \ Doesnt sound right, try USB Util 2.0. Im sure someone can find you a linky, if we are aloud to post em..
Ive managed to boot a fair few of them. XD also USB Extreme is sloooooooooowww, as youve gathered, usb util is MUCH faster, but some games, ie: FF X dont seem to want to install. Jammy Bastardos. : \ |

I finally hooked up the network today.
Unfortunately I´m also suffering serious stuttering and choppiness on the games I tested. I´m guessing once again us ps2 users without the EE chip are getting screwed with the emulation. I´m also experiencing graphical glitches. I have the PAL 60gb ps3 without the EE chip. Well at least we have one more way to load games. I also didn´t have to deframent the files using SMB and since you don´t have to patch most games that also saves time. I´m hoping maybe something can be optimized in future versions. This is really a great job the devs have been doing on this app. Someone asked what the GAME ID option is for. That allows you to put the correct game id so you can play online when booting from usb. doen´t work when booting from network. @glitch. Have you tried using some of the compatibilty modes with GOW2. on which part does the game freeze? I noticed you took it out from the compatibilty list. @grimlord. do you have a ps3 without the EE chip too? I´m just trying to find out if it´s everyone without the EE chip that are experiencing the stuttering. @dreaddie kruger. which usbloader are you using? what are you using for a usb device? If your using a usb HDD, have you deframented the HDD? have you deframented the individual files with the power defragmenter tool? another thing that gave me problems was installing the games while my PC was busy doing other things. so try making the install without anything else going on with the PC. also to save time you should just try installing one game and then test to see if it´s good. 0.6 is real picky so you should try 0.5 to see if you have more luck. like glitch said, something doesn´t sound right.

@aries2k In GOW it freezes at Kratos, when will it end? No Joke.
Ive tried a few compatibility modes (most probably all) and no dice, some slow down the FMV's(load alt.core others), speed it up, just slightly, but leave graphical glitches during game play, also slow that down too. Perhaps the US 60GB's are at an advantage here, with the EE Chips. ![]() PS: it was me who asked about the game ID's XD... I wont be testing for a looonnng while, as i've just lost my complete backup of my games :'( 90GB to be precise. Last edited by gliitch; 01-18-2010 at 04:12 AM. |

After reading about how good SMB was working, I´m also disappointed with the results on the ps3´s without the EE chip. I´ve tested about a dozen games and they all have a graphical glitch when running through SMB. the FMVs are even choppier and there´s even stuttering during gameplay. god of War also froze twice for me during gameplay. So for the moment, the people without the EE chip are still better off running from USB. we have to remain patient and look at the bright side. a few weeks ago network wasn´t even working on the ps3.
The main coder, Jimmi, said that he´s working on rewriting the network modules so we can hope that it will take care of our problem. The people with ps3s that have the EE chip should be alot better off using SMB rather than usb. Hey glitch, I´m real sorry to hear about all your games. 90gb, ouch, thats alot of games.

Aries2k, gliitch and anyone else with graphic glitches. You have to turn off smoothing to get rid of the graphical glitches. IDK why it helps but it works for my 80 gb NTSC model. I can keep full screen on but screen smoothing causes tons of black spots. Lets hope you all read this!! It took me three hours of snooping and I turned off smoothing and did a major facepalm because that was the problem.
I am sure that us without EE in some cases have the upper hand. For instance my copy of socom combined assault runs at a much higher frame rate than my friend with a 60 gig EE NTSC ps3. On a second note my 80 gb NTSC (without EE) Loads some games perfect with network and others are like I was using a usb. Maybe I am lucky. Just remember no games that use streaming seem to work at full speeds. So my shadow of the colossus and GTA games sucked and stuttered during gameplay. But!!! killzone (witch I thought streamed) runs like a dvd copy. I think network and usb are completely even as of the moment for us non EE users. Except the occasional game I find that runs flawlessly with networking. Last edited by mistawankaz; 01-20-2010 at 08:05 PM. |
