    I'll try this when I get home. That may be the issue since there is a chance that the firmware on the hard drive could be different from what's on the system.

    Wouldn't cloning the drive cause the PS3 to want to reformat the drive afterwards. Also, is it normal for disk management programs like AOMEI to say that the 80GB hard drive is empty?

    I haven't tried doing it in my case however... So long as you do not format it in windows. Cloning copies everything e.g. the MBR, Sector by Sector, and etc. It could be also that AOMEI cannot recognize the file system/

    Try doing the Sector by Sector cloning option in AOMEI.

    Sad. unless if you have that physical hard drive cloning thing. But it's expensive stuff. =/

    That message doesn't mean it is going to format it. It means the version on your HDD is different than what the PS3 is on.

    Simply put your CFW on a USB stick named correctly and in correct folder path. And push start + select like the screen says.

    Then you can boot with either HDD.
