Prevent HDD Crippling. NAND write protect diagram

GodzIvan strikes again, this time with a diagram which simply write protects the NAND flash in the Xbox 360 by connecting WP to ground pin (if the flash type has different pinout, just find the datasheet to locate WP). This modification does not stop the ban from M$, but it prevents deletion of the HD installation certificates required by games which means you can still install them on the hard drive. In order to update the kernel this mod must be disabled; a simple switch solution comes to mind." This is only a safegaurd against a ban, and only works on a unbanned 360 console, and prevents against future bans.

this is not good, firstly it's instant ban, then if we do something like this we can't access the nand ourselves, i don't know how is this going help us apart for not allowing microsoft from removing the certificates. this would only be good if you have a dual nand setup with cygnos V1 or V2.

You do know that you can put a simple switch on the wire?

    - when the pin is connected to the GND, the nand won't be flashable, or updatebale in any way

    - in that case you must first update your console offline to the most recent kernel update ( Fall 09 - 8955, and the update from L4D2 ), of course with the switch enabling you to do that

    - than connect to live, get banned, and live happily ever after :D

You can still use this method as a safety measure, as many people were banned when trying to use Xlink Kai, and every time a game wants to update, you just use the switch...
