PS3 FW 3.21 Downgrade Released, blocks OtherOS

PS3 Firmware 3.21 "upgrade" was released today, and as posted earlier, it does block OtherOS support. It is highly recommended that if you have one of the "phat" PS3's that you do not update at this time as their are rumors of PS3 custom firmware, and potential safe way of upgrading preserving OtherOS.

    [Download PS3 3.21 Firmware Update]

Bypass PS3 update and connect to PSN by following the tutorial posted here.

    ChangeLog:
    Settings

    • The [Install Other OS] and [Default System] features have been deleted. > See Details

    Other

    • The playback quality of some PlayStation® format software that is downloaded (as a purchase or for free) from PlayStation®Store has been improved.
    • A security patch was added to address security vulnerabilities that may occur when playing MP4 format video files.

So how are you suppose to block it if it forces to as soon as you turn on your PS3. Can't play no games, can't sign into the PSN so online gaming can work. Help with a CFW hurry. LOL.

i was pissed at first, but thankfully i found this tool on the boards:
    http://www.haxnetwork.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=269

don't bother updating, just use that proxy program..works perfectly

edit: anyone know if bypassing firmware through proxy can get detected?

no it's safe... I've used it before I'd just prefer to not have to do it :P haha... but maybe GeoHot will take care of that for us.

I don't want to update (downgrade) until I see the dust settle anyways.

If anyone wants to discuss this firmware, or would like to receive help with the proxy method, click the chat button at the top of the forum, or in my link.

    1.Download Logan5’s tool.
    2.Run it;
◦If it loads successfully, proceed to step 3.
◦If it doesn’t load, you may be missing some required Windows libraries. Google whatever you’re missing; find it, download it, install it. In my case I was missing “mswinsck.ocx.” You
    3.Ensure “Firmware Update” remains unchecked.
4.Click “Start Proxy” and take note of your IP.
5.On your PS3, go to Settings -> Network Settings -> Internet Connection Settings.
6.Select “Custom” and proceed through each screen, setting up your connection as normal, until you reach “Proxy Server.”
    7.Select “Use.”
8.Enter the IP address and port as shown in Logan5’s tool.
9.Advance forward, save your connection and try it out. You should be able to sign in to PSN with no problems.

Just one question to people who did load the update:

Is there a warning before you update that OtherOS is removed and you loose your data if you first don't backup?
