    Sony Offers 250GB HDD Upgrade

    Now don't go getting exited, it isn't free.....

    Sony Japan have decided to offer an upgrade, where they take your console, back up your data, install a 250GB HDD and restore your data, all for a "measly" ¥18,000, which works out at the time of publishing this thread, $192/£126/?146, no word of this coming to US or Europe. Most of us here know how to do this ourselves, but there are people out there that are either dont know how to do the whole process, or are too busy, so i guess this suits them.

    The models affected:
    * CECHA00 (60GB)
    * CECHB00 (20GB)
    * CECHH00 (40GB)
    * CECHL00 (80GB)
    * CECHQ00 (160GB)
    * CECH-2000A (120GB)

    Thanks to Andriasang for the translation.

    If/when I do this, won't be sending $ony any more money. (Still bitter over Linux)

    It's easier and cheaper to do it yourself, even with a 500gig drive.

    Wow, that's astronomically over-priced...although it takes away the need for having a second hard drive to back crap up to and use for restore. Just buy two 320GB drives and do it yourself. I posted this yesterday:
