    [Update4] PS3 FW 3.56 Released - Breaks homebrew

PS3 firmware 3.56 has been released, it is highly advised to NOT update at this time until we get our hands sticky and find out what new has been added. The "word on the street" is that this new firmware breaks 3.50 homebrew - but nothing is 100% confirmed yet. If you do feel daring to update feel free to do so and post your results.

Stay tuned for updates as they roll in.

    [Download PS3 FW 3.56] [Mirror 1]

    ============================================================

The DNS bypass trick still works - probably going to be patched soon (67.202.81.137).

PS3Hax member Mortonx has made a simple video tutorial on how to get on PSN via DNS bypass:

    UPDATE 1

Confirmed: PS3 3.56 currently kills homebrew - installing over with current existing CFW's does NOT work.

According to PSX-Scene the new update contains a new .SELF with an unknown KEY and all homebrew tools will have to be updated in order to restore their functionality. You can also read a log of what a few devs are thinking of v3.56 HERE.

    UPDATE 2

Good ole' KaKaRoToKS is hard at work in cracking the new firmware, updates from his Twitter:
isoldr keys are now pushed too.

lv1 and lv2 keys are now pushed to my ps3keys repo.. more coming : http://github.com/kakaroto/ps3keys

    pup from ps3utils and puppack/pupunpack from ps3tools in github.com/kakaroto can now pack/unpack 3.56 correctly.
    UPDATE 3

KaKaRoToKS has cracked it and gotten the keys for the new firmware 3.56 in a matter of hours

    To quote:
btw, it's easy to find the new keys.. I might write a script for that.. in the meantime: ps3utils/selfdiff 355/*/*/lv1ldr 356/*/*/lv1ldr

Just got home, found the application keys while on the bus, now also pushed to github.com/kakaroto/ps3keys enjoy!
Stay tuned at PS3Hax for the fasted updates on the new firmware.

    Cool

As always, the DNS trick works like a charm.

    CFW Kmeaw, and online.

I wonder if signed app's work on the new FW.

    DNS is:

    67.202.81.137
