I just wanted to bump this guide, to show what I added.

Today I had a bricked PS3 to fix. I was beginning to think it was a permabrick. The customer supplied a few dumps, that were not valid. They were missing bootldr, and most of the second region.
The dumps I were getting from the console, were even worse. I could not even extract them with flowrebuilder, without an error saying it couldn't do it. And it would leave me with a .ext folder with only a 0KB file named "                                "

So what I did was open the crappy dump I made, with HxD. Then I went to offset 0xFC0000, where bootldr should be. And the info was there. So I copied from offset 0xFC0000 to the offset so that the size (2EAF0) was correct for that model PS3. (CECHP).
I then pasted that into the dump that was missing bootldr.
I was still missing a lot of info. But then I realized, all that info was "Generic". So I found a donor dump of a different CECHP. And copied and pasted all of it to the new dump I had made.

And it worked. So from 2 non valid dumps, and a donor dump, I Frankenstein'd 1 dump. I checked it with Nor Inspector and got all green OKs.
I checked it with BwE's Nor Validator, and got all green checks.

So I flashed it, and it worked to unbrick the PS3.

I am sure some of you have already done this. But I thought I would add this spoiler to the guide. Maybe it will help someone.

More details, please. I cant find "offset 0xFC0000" in a dump of the ps3 "permabrick". Could you can explain it better?

    Thx. Regards.

What you need to do is go to this page: http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/Flash#NOR_Flash

In that chart is all the parts of the Nor dump, you should have in a valid dump.

In the left column type, you need to find all the parts that say pc. PC stands for per console. Which means you have to get all those parts from your console. The rest of the info can come from a donor PS3 Nor dump.

Open your dump with HxD. Press CONTROL and G. Then in the box, copy and paste each offset for the part you are searching for.

    For example: For
    Code:
    pc lv0ldr bootldr 0xFC0000 0xFFFFFF 0x40000 (262,144 bytes) 7E00h End @ FEEAF0, FEEF70, FEF170, FEF570, FEF5F0, FEF600 in some dumps
The chart says bootldr starts at offset FC0000 (leave out the 0x).
Now since bootldr is different sizes for different models, the offset it ends at varies.
    Look at this chart: http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/Valid...Bbootldr_sizes
to find out what size your bootldr should be.
For the one I did was a CECHP, so I new the size was 2EAF0. You left click on the value of the offset in HxD and highlight the area you are going to want to copy. The size is shown on the bottom of HxD, as you keep highlighting. Do that until you get til what size it should be. Then right click on the highlighted area, and choose copy.
Do the same for the new dump you are going to make your valid dump. But when you right click, choose paste write.

You need to do that for all the Per Console regions. And hopefully when you search the bad dumps you have, you can find all the Per Console regions.

EDIT - Oh yeah, and if you find all the info and put it in one dump. Go to file save as, to save the new Frankentein'd dump.

You can only fix generic/perconsole data.

But you cant fix your bad clipping this way, you might just be wasting your time.

Remember to keep the clip in the same position after reading so the writing is the same.

HDD info is in CELL_EXTNOR_AREA, which is Generic. So can be used from donor.

ros0 and ros1 is Per Firmware, and will be fixed when you patch the dump.

cvtrm is per console info. Needs to be from your dump. [But, you may be able to use from donor dump. After you fix you will get RSOD. But you can use the RSOD fix, to rewrite the VTRM. I am not 100% sure on that. So I would try and find yours first.]

The others, check the chart to see if it is per console.

Ok, I┤m scared with RSOD. When I patch the modified dump in the rogero auto patcher, the "cvtrm" is fixed, but when I do nor inspector, has error in cvtrm [attention: content "cvtrm" might be malformed]. HDD info has errors yet, after mod. FlowRebuilder extract the new mod dump without errors [patched and unpatched dumps]!

What can you say about that?

Rogero auto patcher does not patch cvtrm. So it did not fix it.

Have you tried to reseat your clip, and make more dumps? Maybe you find the rest of the info you need?

HDD info, does not matter. It will rewrite when you install firmware.

Just don't do any flashing yet. Get the clip on good, and make some more dumps.

Ohh ok. I will do more dumps. But this console is not mine. The other guy flash corrupted dump and bring to me to solved. In this case, the new dumps that I make will be good?
