    It's Easier To Bring A New-Gen Game To 360 Than PS3, Ubisoft Says:


    Nathan from Kotaku made an article about this. Ubisoft seems to *love* more 360 than PS3. They just want to focus on Xbox-360 because they consider that the console is the *chosen* one which is closer to a next-gen.

    If their goal was to start a fanboy wars, so far so good. Though i don't agree with Ubisoft statements, well..what you think?

    A Ubisoft rep explained to Kotaku:

    "The Crew was originally built for the new generation of consoles, so when we made the decision to port it to the previous generation, we decided to focus solely on the platform closest to the new-gen's technical infrastructure, which is the Xbox 360."

    Closest? Both seventh gen consoles use a PPC architecture CPU. The difference is how RAM is utilized. Lazy and incapable developers always had trouble with the PS3. This sounds like: "Developing for both would require effort and we are extra lazy."

    I think we knew this all along with the cell processor. It should be fairly easy for them at this point though or at least easier. Much like the Wii U should be easy for them, with all the programming languages Nintendo has made available to them.

    Been to Ubisoft for a guided tour (NDA and all). I did ask them about this, they said that most code is exchangeable between Xbox 360 and PC. On the other hand PS3 requires a team all by itself and nearly nothing is portable and the game must be made from the ground up. That was about 4 years ago. I can see them wanting to save resources now that the PS3 is last gen.

    Again, if the PC and next gen share the same architecture I would argue that developing for them and then porting to the Xbox 360 would be easier than introducing the PS3 which, again, would require a team of its own.

    Oh well, they can continue to develop for the Xbox and I couldn't care less about them. I have had no respect for Ubisoft the moment I finished Prince of Persia and noticed I needed to download the epilogue DLC which cost around 20 dollars to see the ending. They can burn in hell.
